Money Management

The Signals indicator provides a comprehensive toolkit for calculating position sizes and visualizing potential trade outcomes directly on your chart. It streamlines risk management by allowing users to define entry points, stop losses, and multiple take-profit targets with real-time visual feedback on risk-to-reward ratios.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used for trade planning and execution. Users can input their desired entry price, stop loss, and up to five take-profit targets. The tool will then render visual labels and lines on the chart to indicate these levels.

For example, to plan a trade:

  • Input your total account amount or specific share/coin quantity.
  • Set your entry price (defaults to current price if left at 0).
  • Define your stop loss by price or percentage.
  • Set multiple take-profit targets using price, percentage, or a specific Risk/Reward ratio.

The indicator will automatically calculate the position size and display the potential profit or loss at each target level, helping you visualize your trade's risk profile before execution.

Details

The script utilizes a custom library to manage the rendering of trade labels and lines. It supports dynamic calculation of take-profit levels based on three different methods: absolute price, percentage change from entry, or a target risk-reward ratio relative to the stop loss. The "Simulate mode" allows users to test various scenarios without affecting active alerts or trade logic, while the commission input ensures that profit/loss calculations account for trading fees.

Settings

Position Size

  • Amount: The total dollar amount used to calculate the position.
  • Or shares / coins: An alternative input to specify the exact number of units to trade.
  • Commission %: The percentage of commission taken per trade for more accurate profit/loss reporting.

Entry / Stop / Take Profit

  • Price Inputs: Specific price levels for Entry, Stop Loss, and Take Profits.
  • Percentage Inputs: Define exits based on a percentage move from the entry price.
  • Risk/Reward Ratio: Specifically for Take Profit targets, this allows you to set targets based on a multiple of your risk (Entry - Stop Loss).
  • Label Prefix: Custom symbols or characters to display next to the price labels on the chart.
  • Colors: Customizable text and background colors for each trade level.

Settings

  • Text size: Adjusts the scale of the labels on the chart.
  • X offset: Shifts labels horizontally to avoid overlapping with price bars.
  • Simulate mode: Toggles a simulation state for visual testing.
