The HMA Pro Flow [Mladen] + Signals indicator is a trend-following tool that enhances the standard Hull Moving Average with adjustable speed parameters and a dual-HMA system to filter market noise. It aims to identify high-probability entries and exits by aligning short-term momentum with long-term trend direction.

Usage

The indicator can be used to identify trend reversals and continuations by observing the color and alignment of the two HMA lines.

  • BUY Signal: A green label appears when the Entry HMA turns upward while the Trend Filter is also rising. This indicates that both short-term momentum and long-term trend are bullish.
  • SELL Signal: A red label appears when the Entry HMA turns downward while the Trend Filter is also falling. This indicates bearish alignment across multiple timeframes.
  • STOP / CLOSE Signal: An orange 'X' appears when the Entry HMA changes color against the Trend Filter. For example, if you are long and the Entry HMA turns red while the Trend Filter remains green, it suggests a potential pullback. This serves as a warning to close the position rather than initiating a reversal.

Details

This script is built upon the Hull Moving Average (HMA) logic, originally developed by Alan Hull, but incorporates the "Mladen" modification. While the standard HMA uses a fixed divisor of 2, this version allows for a variable divisor, which significantly affects the curve's reaction time and smoothness.

The system utilizes two components:

  1. Entry HMA (Fast): A reactive line used for immediate signal generation.
  2. Trend Filter (Slow): A longer-period line that acts as a directional regime filter, preventing entries against the prevailing market bias.

Settings

Entry HMA Settings

  • Entry Period: The lookback length for the fast signal line.
  • Entry Divisor: Determines the smoothness of the curve. Lower values increase smoothness, while higher values make the line more reactive to price changes.
  • Source: The price data used for calculations (e.g., Close, HL2).

Trend Filter HMA Settings

  • Use Trend Filter?: Toggles the requirement for the fast HMA and slow HMA to align before a signal is generated.
  • Filter Period: The lookback length for the slow trend-filtering line.
  • Filter Divisor: The divisor specifically for the trend filter line.
  • Show Filter on Chart: Toggles the visibility of the thick trend line.

Signal Visibility

  • Show Buy Signals: Toggles visibility of green buy labels.
  • Show Sell Signals: Toggles visibility of red sell labels.
  • Show Stop/Close Signals: Toggles visibility of orange exit crosses.

FAQ

How do I access HMA Pro Flow [Mladen] + Signals?

You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.

What is the purpose of the Entry Divisor?

The Entry Divisor modifies the calculation logic to control the curve's speed. Adjusting this value allows you to fine-tune how closely the HMA tracks price action versus how much it filters out minor fluctuations.

Why do some signals show a "STOP" instead of a reversal?

A "STOP" signal occurs when the fast momentum shifts but the long-term trend filter is still pointing in the original direction. This is designed to protect traders from getting trapped in counter-trend trades during minor pullbacks.
