Forex Master v4.0 (EUR/USD Mean-Reversion Algorithm)
Jun 11, 2016

The Forex Master v4.0 indicator is a specialized mean-reversion tool designed to identify high-probability entry points within ranging market environments. It combines trend filtering with volatility bands to execute trades when price deviates significantly from its mean during periods of low directional momentum.
Usage
The tool is primarily used to trade reversals in the EUR/USD 5M time frame. It generates signals based on the interaction between price and Bollinger Bands, but only when a specific trend filter validates that the market is in a non-trending state.
- Long Entry: Occurs when the price crosses over the lower Bollinger Band while the trend filter indicates a ranging market.
- Short Entry: Occurs when the price crosses under the upper Bollinger Band while the trend filter indicates a ranging market.
The system uses a built-in money management logic that includes fixed Take Profit and Stop Loss levels. It also supports pyramiding, allowing for multiple consecutive entries in the same direction to capture extended mean-reversion moves.
Details
The algorithm is constructed using three primary pillars:
- Trend Filter: Utilizes two Average Directional Index (ADX) components—a Fast ADX (6-period EMA smoothing) and a Slow ADX (12-period EMA smoothing). Trading is only permitted when the Fast ADX is below the Slow ADX, suggesting that the current trend is weakening and price is entering a range-bound phase.
- Bollinger Bands: Provides the boundary levels for entry. It uses a standard 20-period look-back with a 1.5 standard deviation multiplier. These tighter bands are optimized for the 5M chart to catch frequent mean-reversion opportunities.
- Execution Logic: Trades are calculated at the close of a candle and executed at the open of the following period. The system is designed to handle position flipping; when an opposite signal is generated, it automatically closes current positions before opening the new trade.

FAQ
How do I access Forex Master v4.0?
You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
What time frame is this optimized for?
While it can be applied to various intervals, the algorithm is specifically optimized for the 5-minute (5M) chart.
