The Combing in MACD and MTF indicator provides a multi-timeframe perspective on MACD momentum, allowing traders to identify confluence across four distinct timeframes for more robust trend analysis.

Usage

The Combing in MACD and MTF tool is used to identify periods where momentum is aligned across multiple timeframes. The indicator plots four horizontal lines representing each individual timeframe and a fifth "Global" line that represents the collective state.

  • Bullish Alignment: When the MACD line is above the Signal line on all four selected timeframes, the Global line turns green, indicating strong bullish momentum.
  • Bearish Alignment: When the MACD line is below the Signal line on all four selected timeframes, the Global line turns red, indicating strong bearish momentum.
  • Neutral/Mixed State: When timeframes are in conflict, the Global line turns a neutral color.

Traders can use these alignments as entry filters or confirmation for existing strategies. For example, a long entry might only be considered when the Global line shows a bullish state.

Details

The script utilizes the request.security() function to fetch MACD data from four user-defined timeframes. It specifically looks at the relationship between the MACD Line and the Signal Line. The calculation logic determines whether the MACD is "bullish" (MACD > Signal) or "bearish" (MACD < Signal) on each timeframe. The "Global" state is a logic gate: it requires a 4/4 match to trigger a directional signal, otherwise, it remains in a neutral state.

FAQ

How do I interpret the horizontal lines?

Each of the lower four lines represents the MACD state of a specific timeframe. The top-most line represents the "Global" confluence, turning green or red only when all four timeframes agree on the direction.

Can I change the timeframes used for analysis?

Yes, you can customize all four timeframes in the settings menu to match your specific trading style, whether you are scalping or swing trading.
