Breakout Volume Delta
Feb 26, 2026

The Breakout Volume Delta indicator measures breakout strength by analyzing lower-timeframe volume delta to determine buyer versus seller participation. It estimates dominance by summing volume from bullish and bearish sub-candles within a breakout bar, visualizing the results through a split-body candle overlay that highlights the degree of directional conviction.
Usage
This tool is used to differentiate between high-conviction breakouts and those driven by weak or mixed participation. When a price breakout occurs, the indicator splits the candle body into segments: the dominant side's volume percentage determines the size of the primary segment, while the remainder shows the opposing activity.
Example: If a bullish breakout candle occurs with 70% bullish volume and 30% bearish volume on the lower timeframe, the candle body will visually reflect this 70/30 split. This allows traders to quickly identify if a move is backed by significant delta or if it is likely a low-quality move.
Details
The indicator operates by breaking down the current chart candle into a user-defined lower timeframe (LTF). It classifies sub-candles with a close higher than the open as bullish volume and those with a close lower than the open as bearish volume.
The tool also features an automated swing detection engine that identifies key levels on a specific timeframe and projects them onto the chart. Breakouts are only registered when price crosses these dynamically detected levels, providing structural context to the volume delta analysis.

FAQ
How do I interpret the split-body candle? The portion of the candle body colored in the breakout direction represents the percentage of volume that was in favor of the move. A larger primary color segment indicates stronger participation.
What is the benefit of using a higher Swing Timeframe? Using a higher timeframe for swing detection allows you to trade breakouts of significant structural levels while still seeing the granular volume delta details on your current trading timeframe.
