The Scalping Strategy (5min) indicator is a momentum-based signaling tool designed to identify short-term entry opportunities by combining dual RSI crossovers with multi-layered moving average trend filters.

Usage

The indicator generates Buy and Sell signals based on the interaction between a Fast RSI and a Slow RSI. A Buy signal appears when the Fast RSI crosses above the Slow RSI, while a Sell signal appears when it crosses below.

To increase signal reliability, users can enable Moving Average (MA) filters. When "Use Fast MA Filtering" or "Use Slow MA Filtering" is active, signals are only plotted if the price is trading on the correct side of the respective MA (above for buys, below for sells). For further refinement, the "Filter Signals Based On Slope of MA's" option ensures that the MAs are trending in the direction of the trade before a signal is confirmed.

An optional Bollinger Band overlay is included to assist with volatility analysis without requiring an additional chart slot.

Details

The script utilizes a dual-oscillator approach to detect momentum shifts. By comparing a short-term (Fast) RSI against a longer-term (Slow) RSI, it captures rapid changes in price velocity.

To mitigate false signals common in low-timeframe scalping, the script implements trend-following logic using two distinct Moving Averages—typically a short-term lead and a long-term (200-period) baseline. The slope calculation uses the arctangent of the MA change relative to the Average True Range (ATR) to determine if a trend is sufficiently strong to support a trade.

Settings

Filtering

  • Use Slow MA Filtering: Enables price-position filtering relative to the Slow MA.
  • Use Fast MA Filtering: Enables price-position filtering relative to the Fast MA.
  • Filter Signals Based On Slope of MA's: Requires the enabled MAs to be pointing up for buys or down for sells.
  • Show BB: Toggles the visibility of the Bollinger Bands.

MA Inputs

  • Fast MA Type/Length: Configures the calculation method (SMA, EMA, etc.) and period for the short-term trend filter.
  • Slow MA Type/Length: Configures the calculation method and period for the long-term trend baseline.

RSI Inputs

  • Slow RSI Length: Sets the period for the baseline RSI.
  • Fast RSI Length: Sets the period for the signal RSI.
