The Impulse Momentum MACD - Slow and Fast indicator combines momentum tracking with a dual-speed Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) framework to identify trend reversals and price strength. By integrating a slow and fast MACD component alongside a zero-trend baseline, the tool provides a comprehensive view of market shifts across different timeframes.

Usage

This tool is designed to identify entry and exit points based on the synchronization of momentum and trend components. Traders can monitor the interaction between the slow and fast histograms to gauge the maturity of a trend.

Bullish Conditions

  • Zero Trend Line: Should be green.
  • Slow Histogram: Should be green.
  • Momentum: The line or area should be green (positive).
  • Crossovers: A signal is generated when the Slow MACD line crosses above its signal line or the Fast MACD line crosses above its signal line. If crossovers occur while the Trend Line is still red, wait for it to turn green before entering.

Bearish Conditions

  • Zero Trend Line: Should be red.
  • Slow Histogram: Should be red.
  • Momentum: The line or area should be red (negative).
  • Crossovers: A signal is generated when the Slow MACD line crosses below its signal line or the Fast MACD line crosses below its signal line. If crossovers occur while the Trend Line is still green, wait for it to turn red before entering.

Details

The indicator is composed of three primary modules:

  1. Momentum: Measures the speed of price movement relative to a zero line.
  2. Impulse MACD (Slow & Fast): A modified MACD that filters values within a range of modifiable moving averages. It calculates high and low ranges to create a specialized histogram that identifies impulse moves.
  3. Zero Trend Line: A horizontal baseline that uses security calls to track trends from higher timeframes. Recommended settings for the Trend Line Timeframe include:
    • 1m Chart: 5m Trend Line.
    • 5m Chart: 30m Trend Line.
    • 15m Chart: 60m Trend Line.

FAQ

How do I interpret the dual histograms?

The fast histogram reacts quickly to price changes, acting as an early warning system, while the slow histogram confirms the broader trend direction. Ideally, both should align with the zero trend line color for high-probability signals.

Can I use this on any asset?

Yes, the script is versatile and can be applied to Forex, Indices, Cryptocurrencies, and Stocks, provided the settings are adjusted to suit the asset's volatility.
