NASAlgo Advanced Oscillator
May 29, 2026

The NASAlgo Advanced Oscillator indicator provides a comprehensive suite of momentum and trend analysis tools by combining WaveTrend-derived logic, Heikin Ashi smoothing, and automated divergence detection into a single technical oscillator.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to identify trend exhaustion and potential reversals. The tool is primarily used to observe momentum shifts through its two main lines (wt1 and wt2) and their interaction with overbought and oversold thresholds.
- Momentum Crossovers: Traders typically look for the wt1 line crossing the wt2 signal line. Crossovers occurring within the extreme overbought (above 53/60) or oversold (below -53/-60) zones suggest potential price reversals.
- Divergence Analysis: The indicator automatically identifies Regular and Hidden divergences. Regular divergences often hint at a trend reversal, while hidden divergences can suggest trend continuation.
- Market Bias: By enabling the Heikin Ashi Market Bias, the background or fill areas color-code the broader trend direction, helping traders filter oscillator signals against the prevailing market sentiment.
Details
The script executes several distinct analytical modules to provide a multi-layered view of market activity:
- Core WaveTrend Engine: This module calculates the wt1 line using the ratio of price to an Exponential Moving Average (EMA) of the average price, which is then smoothed. The wt2 line is a Simple Moving Average (SMA) of wt1.
- Heikin Ashi Bias: This component applies Heikin Ashi calculations to smoothed price data (o, h, l, c) to determine a secondary oscillator bias. This helps in identifying whether the market is in a sustained bullish or bearish state regardless of minor fluctuations.
- Divergence Engine: The script uses
ta.pivothighandta.pivotlowlogic to compare price peaks/valleys against oscillator peaks/valleys. Since it relies on pivot points, these signals appear after a specific number of confirmation bars (defined by the fractal logic) to ensure accuracy. - Smart Reversal Filters: The "Smart" logic restricts reversal signals to specific conditions, such as ensuring a bullish crossover only triggers when the oscillator is significantly oversold.
Settings
- Channel length (n1): Controls the period for the initial price smoothing used in the core calculation.
- Average length (n2): Sets the period for the final smoothing of the WaveTrend oscillator.
- Reaction in change of direction: The number of bars required to confirm a shift in the oscillator's trend.
- Levels About Buys/Sells: Defines the threshold values for the overbought (nsc) and oversold (nsv) lines.
- Only Smart Buy/Sell Reversal: Toggles filters that only allow signals when the oscillator is in extreme zones.
- Show Histogram: Enables or disables the visual representation of the difference between wt1 and wt2.
- Divergence on chart (Bars): Highlights price bars when a divergence is detected.
- Divergence Toggles: Individual settings to enable or disable Regular Bullish, Regular Bearish, Hidden Bullish, and Hidden Bearish signals.
- Show HA Plot/ Market Bias: Enables the background coloring based on Heikin Ashi trend logic.
- HA Period/Smoothing: Adjusts the responsiveness and smoothness of the Market Bias calculation.
FAQ
How do I interpret the different circle signals on the oscillator? Large circles on the wt2 signal line represent reversal points where wt1 crosses wt2 within overbought or oversold zones. Green circles indicate bullish reversals, while red circles indicate bearish reversals.
Why do divergence labels appear a few bars late? Divergence detection relies on pivot points, which require several bars of data to the right of the peak or valley to confirm that a high or low has actually formed. This prevents the signal from repainting.
