The AetherEdge - SuperTrend Multi-Factor indicator provides a robust trend-following system that combines a volatility-adaptive SuperTrend with EMA filtering and volume confirmation to identify high-conviction market entries. By integrating multiple data layers into a unified scoring system, it filters out noise and highlights setups with strong directional alignment.

Usage

The Usage section focuses on interpreting the confluence signals and managing trade lifecycles. The indicator categorizes signals into two primary types:

  • Strong Signals (3/3): These occur when the SuperTrend flips, price aligns with the selected EMA filter, and volume exceeds the specified threshold. These are highlighted in gold to indicate maximum conviction.
  • Weak Signals: These occur when a SuperTrend flip happens without EMA or volume confirmation. They are visually distinct and serve as a warning or reference rather than a primary entry trigger.

The indicator also automates trade planning by plotting a dynamic entry line, a SuperTrend-based Stop Loss (SL), and a Take Profit (TP) level based on a user-defined Risk:Reward ratio. Users can apply the script across various assets by adjusting the ATR and EMA parameters to match the specific volatility and trend characteristics of the instrument.

Details

The script employs a multi-factor architecture to improve signal reliability:

  • Dynamic Multiplier Engine: It calculates a ratio between the current ATR and its long-term average. This ratio adjusts the SuperTrend multiplier in real-time, widening bands during high volatility to avoid fakeouts and tightening them during low volatility for faster response.
  • EMA Filter Layer: Users can choose from four modes (Fast>Slow, Price vs Fast, Price vs Slow, or Slope of Fast) to define the trend bias.
  • Volume Confirmation: This layer compares current volume to a Volume MA multiplied by a user-defined threshold, ensuring participant conviction supports the price movement.
  • Confluence Scoring: The script assigns points for each factor (Trend, EMA, Volume). A total score of 3 triggers a "Strong" signal.

Settings

SuperTrend Core

  • ATR Length: The lookback period used for calculating the Average True Range.
  • ATR Multiplier (base): The base value that determines the distance of the SuperTrend bands from the price.
  • Dynamic Multiplier: Enables automatic scaling of the multiplier based on volatility regimes.
  • Volatility Lookback: The period used to calculate the average volatility for the dynamic multiplier.

EMA Trend Filter

  • Enable EMA Filter: Toggles the EMA requirement for confluence scoring.
  • EMA Fast/Slow: Sets the lengths for the short-term and long-term moving averages.
  • EMA Condition: Selects the logic used to determine a bullish or bearish EMA state (e.g., Fast > Slow or Price vs Fast).

Volume Confirmation

  • Enable Volume Filter: Toggles the volume requirement for confluence scoring.
  • Volume MA Length: The period for the Volume Moving Average.
  • Volume > MA ×: The multiplier applied to the Volume MA that current volume must exceed to confirm a move.

Risk / Stop-Loss

  • Show Stop-Loss/Take-Profit: Toggles the visibility of automated exit levels.
  • Risk:Reward Ratio: Sets the target profit relative to the distance between the entry and stop-loss.
  • SL Buffer (ATR ×): Adds an extra cushion to the stop-loss level based on a multiple of the ATR.

FAQ

How do I interpret the "Strong" vs "Weak" labels? A "Strong" label appears when all three factors (SuperTrend, EMA, and Volume) align. A "Weak" label appears as an unfilled triangle when only the SuperTrend has flipped but lacks support from the EMA or Volume filters.

Can I use this for assets without volume data like Forex? Yes, if you are trading an instrument without volume data, you should disable the "Enable Volume Filter" in the settings to ensure the scoring system remains accurate.

How do I get access to the AetherEdge - SuperTrend Multi-Factor? You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
