The Trinity MA Ribbon with Trend Bias and VWAP indicator combines a momentum-based MA ribbon, a long-term trend filter, and VWAP with standard deviation bands to provide a comprehensive view of market structure, trend direction, and volatility.

Usage

The Usage section focuses on identifying high-probability trade setups by aligning momentum with the broader market trend.

  • Trend Identification: Users should first observe the 350-period Trend MA and the background tint. A green background with price above the 350 MA indicates a bullish regime, while a red background with price below indicates a bearish regime.
  • Momentum Timing: The 10/20 MA ribbon acts as a timing mechanism. A bullish "BUY" label appears when the fast MA crosses above the slow MA, while a bearish "SELL" label appears on a crossunder. These signals are most effective when they align with the 350 Trend MA.
  • Dynamic Support & Resistance: The VWAP and its three standard deviation bands serve as price targets and volatility zones. In a trending market, the 1st and 2nd deviation bands often act as dynamic support or resistance, while the 3rd band highlights extreme expansion areas for potential profit-taking.

Details

The script integrates three distinct technical analysis concepts:

  1. Trend Bias: It utilizes a default 350-period Moving Average (EMA or SMA). This specific length is used to capture macro market structure on intraday timeframes, filtering out minor price fluctuations to keep the trader aligned with the dominant flow.
  2. MA Ribbon: The ribbon consists of a Fast MA (default 10) and a Slow MA (default 20). The interaction between these two lines visualizes short-term momentum shifts.
  3. VWAP & Standard Deviation: The Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP) provides an anchored mean for the trading day. The addition of standard deviation bands (calculated over a user-defined length) allows for the identification of overextended price action relative to the mean.

FAQ

How do I interpret the background color? The background color is tied to the 350 Trend MA filter. Green indicates the price is above the trend line (bullish), and red indicates the price is below (bearish), helping you stay on the right side of the market.

Can I use this for mean reversion? Yes. While designed for trending markets, the 3rd standard deviation bands (VWAP) often indicate overbought or oversold conditions where price may revert to the VWAP line.
