RSI-Volume Oscillator Quick Scalping
Jul 25, 2023

The RSI-Volume Oscillator Quick Scalping indicator is a comprehensive momentum tool that integrates price-based RSI with volume dynamics to help traders identify short-term scalping opportunities. By combining these two metrics into a single oscillator, it offers a multi-dimensional view of market strength and trend exhaustion.
Usage
The tool is primarily used to identify quick momentum shifts and trend direction for scalping. Traders can monitor the interaction between the primary oscillator line (blue) and three customizable moving averages.
- Momentum Crossovers: Potential buy signals may occur when the blue oscillator line crosses above the faster moving averages (Orange or Purple). Conversely, crosses below these averages may indicate selling pressure.
- Trend Confirmation: The third, longer-term moving average (Green) helps define the broader trend context. When the oscillator and faster MAs are consistently above this line, the short-term bias is bullish.
- Overbought/Oversold Levels: The indicator features standard levels at 70 and 30. Movement beyond these levels can suggest potential exhaustion points where a reversal or consolidation might occur.
Details
The indicator functions by calculating a standard Relative Strength Index (RSI) and subtracting a Volume Oscillator value from it. The Volume Oscillator is derived by measuring the percentage difference between current volume and its Hull Moving Average (HMA).
By subtracting volume influence from the RSI, the indicator adjusts the price momentum based on the underlying participation. The script also includes a flexible moving average function, allowing users to apply SMA, EMA, or HMA smoothing to the resulting oscillator to filter out market noise.
Settings
- RSI Length: Determines the lookback period for the RSI component (default is 14).
- Volume Oscillator Length: Sets the lookback period for the volume-based calculation.
- Moving Average Type: Allows selection between SMA, EMA, or HMA for the three signal lines.
- SMA 1 Length: Adjusts the period for the first, fastest moving average (Orange).
- SMA 2 Length: Adjusts the period for the second, medium moving average (Purple).
- SMA 3 Length: Adjusts the period for the third, slowest moving average (Green).
