The Volume Delta RealTime v1.0 indicator monitors volume strength relative to historical data in real-time, allowing traders to identify potential volume breakouts or abnormalities before a candle closes.

Usage

The Usage section focuses on identifying volume anomalies by comparing current volume progress against the time elapsed in the active candle. For example, if a 4-hour candle is only 10 minutes in (approximately 8% of the total duration) but has already reached 57% of the average historical volume, the indicator will highlight this significant surge.

A thin blue line represents the "Delta Time," showing the percentage of the current candle's duration that has passed (100% for all closed candles). The columns represent the relative volume strength. If the volume projection exceeds the user-defined limits, the columns change color to indicate bullish or bearish strength.

Details

The script calculates the relationship between volume and time (deltaV / deltaT). Because very early candle data can produce volatile results due to small denominators, the indicator typically stabilizes after approximately 0.5% of the candle's time has elapsed.

The tool includes a normalization hack to handle weekend data or irregular periods, ensuring the time delta does not exceed 100%. Additionally, a "Max Normal" filter is included to cap extreme values (e.g., volume exceeding 500% of the average) which may be caused by data errors or extreme outliers.

Settings

General Settings

  • Warning Limit %: The percentage threshold at which the volume delta is considered significant enough to change color and trigger alerts.
  • Candle Minutes: This must be set manually to match your chart timeframe in minutes (e.g., set to 240 for a 4-hour chart).
  • Back Candles Size: The number of historical candles used to calculate the reference volume.
  • On(high) / Off(median): A toggle to choose the calculation method for historical volume. When "On," it uses the highest volume in the lookback period; when "Off," it uses the simple moving average.
  • Max Normal: Sets a ceiling for the volume delta percentage to prevent chart distortion from extreme spikes.
