The ICT First Presented FVG - NY Open indicator identifies and highlights the initial Fair Value Gap (FVG) formed during the New York trading session while marking the session's opening price levels. This tool is designed to help traders pinpoint institutional order flow patterns and potential reversal zones immediately following the high-volatility 9:30 AM EST market open.

Usage

The Usage section focuses on identifying the first significant market imbalance during the NY session. The script is primarily optimized for the 1-minute and 5-minute timeframes, where ICT concepts like the "9:30 FVG" are most prevalent.

Traders can use the indicator to:

  • Identify Market Direction: The first FVG often indicates the immediate institutional bias after the market open.
  • Reference Opening Price: The NY opening price serves as a "pivot" point; staying above or below this level can help confirm bullish or bearish sentiment.
  • Contextualize Reversals: By combining the first FVG with the 9:30 AM vertical marker, users can see if the initial move was a "Judas Swing" or a genuine session trend.

Details

The script monitors the market starting from the NY open (09:30 AM EST). Because an FVG requires three candles to form, the default session logic begins looking for the pattern from 09:32 AM.

  • FVG Detection: A bullish FVG is identified when the high of the first candle is lower than the low of the third candle. A bearish FVG is identified when the low of the first candle is higher than the high of the third candle.
  • Visual Persistence: Once the first FVG of the session is found, the script stops searching for new ones and extends the existing FVG box forward for better visibility until the session concludes.
  • Timezone Management: The indicator is hardcoded to "America/New_York" to ensure consistency regardless of the user's local chart settings.
