The Volume Analysis with Price Action indicator is a composite tool that blends per-side volume data with traditional price-structure elements. It aims to help traders identify which side is in control, validate breakouts, spot market exhaustion, and locate areas of potential liquidity provider activity.

Usage

The Usage section highlights how to interpret the various modules integrated within the script:

  • Breakout Identification: Uses per-side volume spikes and price action to confirm if a break beyond recent highs or lows is valid. A label "Breakout ↑" or "Breakout ↓" appears when volume and price conditions align.
  • Market Phase Detection: Categorizes the market into Accumulation, Distribution, or Neutral phases based on net flows and ratio changes, helping you determine the current trend context.
  • Exhaustion Signals (OB/OS): Identifies potential reversal zones using a weighted oscillator system (RSI, Stochastic, etc.) combined with volume spikes.
  • Trap Detection: Signals "Bull Traps" or "Bear Traps" by detecting price sweeps and order-flow mismatches, which are then confirmed by subsequent price reversals.
  • Sharp Move Analysis: Anticipates volatile directional moves by evaluating absorption, churn, and cumulative delta divergence.

Details

The script is built on a price-structure backbone that detects pivots, trend lines, and horizontal support/resistance levels. It utilizes TradingView’s up/down volume feed to calculate buying and selling pressure at a granular level. The indicator offers two calculation modes:

  • Geometry (Approx): Uses candle shape to estimate volume split.
  • Intrabar (Precise): Requests data from a lower timeframe for higher fidelity.

The indicator also features a "Money Flow" module that converts volume into monetary values (e.g., USD) to track net inflows and outflows, providing a macro view of capital movement within the instrument.

Settings

General & Display

  • Lookback length (bars): Sets the window for pivot detection and line drawing.
  • Max pivot count: Determines how many historical pivots are stored for trend calculations.
  • Unified Colors: Allows customization of bullish, bearish, and neutral colors across all modules.

Breakout & Volume

  • Volume lookback: Sets the period for moving averages and percentile ranks.
  • Volume threshold multiplier: Minimum spike required relative to the average volume.
  • Lower timeframe: Specifies the timeframe used for intrabar volume calculations.

Module Toggles

  • Enable PQI Phase Detection: Toggles the accumulation/distribution detection system.
  • Activate EQS Module: Toggles the exhaustion (Overbought/Oversold) detection.
  • Enable TQS/VQS/SQS: Individual toggles for Trap, Sharp Move, and Scalp/Spread modules.

FAQ

How do I access the Volume Analysis with Price Action indicator? You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.

What is the difference between "Geometry" and "Intrabar" volume modes? Geometry approximates the buy/sell split based on the candle's wicks and body, while Intrabar looks at lower timeframe data for a more precise measurement of actual transactions.

Why do I see "Risk" labels that don't become full signals? "Risk" labels indicate that volume conditions are met but price confirmation (like a close above a pivot) hasn't occurred yet. The signal is only fully confirmed once both volume and price action align.
