Live Economic Calendar by toodegrees
Jan 12, 2024

The Live Economic Calendar indicator integrates real-time, upcoming, and past financial news directly onto your chart to help analysts prepare for market-moving events. It provides a clear visual understanding of scheduled volatility injections, allowing traders to either harness these movements or avoid them to ensure higher probability market conditions.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to track fundamental events across various markets.
- News Table: Displays a chronological list of events including the date, time, currency, expected impact, and news name. Past events are greyed out to focus attention on upcoming data.
- News Lines: Vertical lines are plotted on the chart. Future lines help anticipate upcoming releases, while past lines assist in backtesting price reactions to historical news.
- News Labels: Color-coded labels provide minimalist visual cues at the exact time of release. Hovering over these labels reveals detailed tooltips about the specific news event.
- Impact Filtering: Users can toggle visibility for Holiday (White), Low (Yellow), Medium (Orange), and High (Red) impact events to declutter the workspace.
- Currency Selection: The tool can automatically detect relevant news for the current chart symbol or allow for custom selection of major currencies (AUD, CAD, CHF, CNY, EUR, GBP, JPY, NZD, USD).
Details
The indicator utilizes custom data integration to fetch news feeds ranging from January 2007 to the present. Because news data must be converted into numerical values for processing, the script employs a specialized encoding system (DCHHMMITYP format) to store day, currency, time, impact, and event IDs.
The data is updated daily at the Futures market close (16:00 EST) to ensure accuracy and to account for last-minute revisions. To overcome platform limitations regarding future data, news events are uploaded one week in advance, allowing the script to plot upcoming volatility markers before they occur.
