Session Liquidity Atlas
May 19, 2026

The Session Liquidity Atlas indicator provides a comprehensive session context framework by mapping active trading ranges, opening ranges, prior-session liquidity, and confirmed breakout or sweep events in a unified overlay.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to establish market context and identify key structural events during a trading session.
- Session Context: Use the session range band and opening range to determine if the price is trading within established boundaries or expanding into new territory.
- Liquidity Sweeps: Monitor the prior-session high and low levels. A "sweep" is identified when price trades through these levels but closes back within the previous range, suggesting a potential reversal or liquidity grab.
- Opening Range Breaks: Observe confirmed closes above or below the initial opening range (configurable by time). These breaks provide an early directional bias for the session.
- Bias Determination: The indicator combines opening range breaks and mature sweep states to color the background and update the dashboard, helping users maintain a consistent directional outlook.
- Dashboard Interpretation: The top-right dashboard provides real-time data on session status, current bias, sweep states, and range metrics (such as the OR/Session ratio and body balance).
Details
The Session Liquidity Atlas utilizes a confirmed-bar logic system to ensure that all signals, such as sweeps and breakouts, are finalized before being displayed. This prevents "repainting" or temporary signals that disappear before the candle closes.
- Active Session Range: Dynamically tracks the open, high, low, and close of a user-defined session window.
- Opening Range (OR): Calculated based on the first X minutes of the session. It serves as a benchmark for early-session volatility and breakout potential.
- Sweep Maturation: The "Sweep Hold Bars" setting requires price to maintain a specific behavior for a set duration before the sweep state influences the overall session bias.
- Visual Transparency: The script uses transparent shading for session and opening ranges, ensuring the price action remains visible while providing structural depth.
Settings
- Primary Session: Defines the time window used to calculate all session-based metrics.
- Opening Range Minutes: Sets the duration (in minutes) from the session start used to define the opening range.
- Sweep Hold Bars: The number of bars required after a liquidity sweep for the bias context to update.
- Show Session Band: Toggles the visibility of the high/low range of the current session.
- Show Opening Range Band: Toggles the visibility of the initial decision range.
- Show Prior Session Liquidity: Projects the previous session's high and low as horizontal reference lines.
- Tint Background On Bias: Enables background coloring based on whether the current session bias is bullish, bearish, or neutral.
- Dashboard Settings: Allows the user to enable or disable the on-screen information panel.
- Line Width / Transparency: Provides aesthetic controls for the thickness and visibility of the various overlay elements.
FAQ
How do I interpret a "Confirmed Sweep"? A confirmed sweep occurs when the price moves past a prior session's high or low but fails to maintain that level, closing back inside the level on a confirmed bar. This often indicates a liquidity hunt rather than a trend continuation.
Can I change the session times for different markets? Yes, you can adjust the "Primary Session" input in the settings menu to match the specific hours of the instrument you are trading, such as New York (0930-1600) or London sessions.
How do I access the Session Liquidity Atlas? You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
