The 6-9 session & levels indicator provides comprehensive session-based range analysis designed to help intraday traders identify key support and resistance levels.

Usage

This tool is primarily used to analyze early-morning price action and project significant levels for the remainder of the trading day. Traders can use the session range (defaulting to 6:00-9:00 AM ET) to establish a context for market volatility.

  • Range Analysis: Use the 25%, 50%, and 75% internal range levels to gauge intraday strength or weakness.
  • Expansion Targets: Utilize the range deviations (0.5x, 1.0x, 2.0x) and Fibonacci extensions (default 1.33x and 1.66x) as potential take-profit or reversal areas.
  • Reversal Zones: The indicator highlights a specific time window (9:40-9:50 AM) often associated with trend shifts or volatility spikes.
  • Contextual Trading: By comparing the current range to historical statistical averages via the built-in table, traders can determine if the current market expansion is standard or overextended (Z-score analysis).

Details

The script calculates session-specific metrics by monitoring user-defined time windows with full timezone support. Once the specified session concludes, the indicator projects various levels forward.

Key implementation details include:

  • Statistical Core: It maintains an array of the last N sessions to calculate mean and median extensions from either the session open or the session extremes.
  • Z-Score Calculation: This statistical measure helps identify whether the current session's range is within a normal distribution or represents an outlier, assisting in volatility-based decision-making.
  • RTH Integration: It automatically fetches and displays the previous day's Regular Trading Hours (9:30 AM - 4:00 PM) high and low levels for additional structural context.

FAQ

How do I interpret the Z-Score in the statistics table? The Z-score indicates how many standard deviations the current range is from the historical mean. A high positive Z-score suggests an unusually large range, while a negative score indicates a compressed session.

Can I change the session time for different markets? Yes, the "Levels Session Time" input allows you to input any HHMM-HHMM range to suit different asset classes or trading sessions (e.g., London Open or Asia Open).

How can I access 6-9 session & levels? You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
