The VWAP Balance Zones indicator identifies equilibrium areas between the Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP) and market extremes across daily, weekly, and monthly timeframes. By plotting the midpoint between VWAP and periodic highs or lows, the tool highlights zones where supply and demand are likely to reach a state of balance, serving as significant reference points for trend continuation or reversal.

Usage

The Usage section focuses on how these zones act as decision points for traders:

  • Trend Continuation: In an established uptrend, price retracing to the "High 50%" zone may be viewed by buyers as an attractive value entry area.
  • Sentiment Shifts: Conversely, if the price breaks through these balance zones instead of bouncing, it may signal a change in market sentiment and the potential start of a new trend in the opposite direction.
  • Daily Zones: These are plotted as shaded areas to account for various price points (High, Low, and Close VWAPs), providing a more robust area for intraday decision-making.
  • Weekly/Monthly Levels: These are displayed as single lines representing the average between the respective anchor's VWAP and its high/low extreme to keep chart noise to a minimum.

Details

The VWAP Balance Zones indicator is built on the concept that markets fluctuate between trending states and periods of balance. While VWAP helps determine the average price weighted by volume, the extremes (Highs/Lows) represent the current limits of the trend. The 50% "Balance Zone" is the mathematical equilibrium between the average value and the extreme limit.

Technical implementation details:

  • Zone Construction: To transform a single average point into a zone for daily timeframes, the script uses multiple VWAP sources and tracks different bar points throughout the session (e.g., Close VWAP and the Highest Close).
  • Visibility Logic: To ensure clarity, weekly values are hidden on the first day of the week, and monthly values are hidden during the first week of the month, as they would otherwise overlap with daily/weekly calculations.

  • Monthly Toggle & Colors: Enables or disables the monthly balance levels and allows customization of the line and shade colors.

FAQ

How do I use the zones for entries?

Traders typically look for price rejection or consolidation within the 50% zones to confirm value before entering in the direction of the primary trend.

Why are some levels hidden at the start of the week/month?

Weekly and monthly values are hidden when they are identical to shorter-term calculations to prevent redundant lines and visual clutter on the chart.
