Mitigation Velocity Order Block Ranker
May 20, 2026

The Mitigation Velocity Order Block Ranker indicator identifies and ranks active order blocks in real time using a composite scoring engine based on velocity, volume, and higher-timeframe alignment. This tool helps traders distinguish high-probability zones from marginal ones by visually prioritizing the strongest supply and demand levels.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to filter market noise and prioritize trading zones.
Order Block Detection
The script scans for swing pivots to identify order blocks. The "Swing Pivot Length" setting determines the significance of these pivots; higher values focus on major structural shifts, while lower values capture more frequent, shorter-term moves. You can also toggle "Use Wick Mitigation" to decide if a mere touch of the wick invalidates the block or if a candle body close is required.
Composite Scoring & Ranking
Unlike standard tools that treat all blocks equally, this script assigns a score from 0 to 1 based on three factors:
- Velocity: Rewards "fresh" blocks that price returns to quickly.
- Volume: Rewards blocks formed with high relative volume compared to a rolling average.
- HTF Alignment: Rewards bullish blocks in a "discount" zone and bearish blocks in a "premium" zone relative to a higher timeframe range.
Visual Interpretation
The indicator uses a "Top-N" ranking system. The highest-ranked blocks are displayed with vivid colors and thicker borders, while lower-ranked blocks progressively fade into transparency. An on-chart table provides a live leaderboard of the most significant zones, including their price levels and exact composite scores.
Details
The scoring engine is normalized to ensure consistency across different market conditions.
- Velocity Decay: The velocity score is calculated against a configurable "Velocity Horizon." As time passes without a touch, the score naturally decays, reflecting the diminishing relevance of stale zones.
- Relative Volume: The volume score uses a standard deviation-style mapping (clamped at 3x the baseline) so that extreme volume spikes do not disproportionately skew the rankings.
- HTF Logic: The tool pulls high/low data from a user-defined Higher Timeframe (e.g., Daily or 4H). It calculates a midpoint; bullish blocks are ranked higher if they appear below this midpoint, and bearish blocks are prioritized if they appear above it.
Settings
Order Block Detection
- Swing Pivot Length: Number of bars required on each side to confirm a swing high or low.
- Max Active Blocks: The maximum number of unmitigated blocks tracked at once.
- Use Wick Mitigation: When enabled, a wick touch triggers mitigation; otherwise, only the body counts.
Scoring Weights
- Velocity Weight: Influence of the "time-to-first-touch" metric on the total score.
- Volume Weight: Influence of the formation candle's relative volume.
- HTF Alignment Weight: Influence of the premium/discount positioning.
- Velocity Horizon (bars): The window used to measure the freshness of a block.
- Volume Lookback: The period for the SMA used to determine relative volume.
Higher Timeframe Alignment
- HTF Timeframe: The timeframe used for premium/discount calculations (e.g., D, 4H).
- HTF Range Lookback: Number of HTF bars used to determine the high/low range.
Ranking Table & Visuals
- Show Ranking Table: Toggles the visibility of the on-chart data table.
- Top N Blocks: Number of blocks to emphasize visually and include in the table.
- Bullish/Bearish Base Color: Sets the primary colors for supply and demand zones.
- Extend Zones to Right: Extends the visual boxes past the current bar for better visibility.
FAQ
How do the rankings change over time? Rankings update dynamically with every bar. A block's score may decrease as it gets "stale" (velocity decay) or if the higher-timeframe range shifts, causing the block to move out of the premium/discount alignment.
Can I use this for standalone signals? No, this is a context and prioritization tool. It is designed to help you identify which existing order blocks are statistically more significant based on volume and HTF context, rather than providing entry/exit signals.
How do I access the Mitigation Velocity Order Block Ranker? You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
