DashboardMoving Averages

The EMA Dashboard tool provides a comprehensive visualization of Exponential Moving Averages across five different user-defined lengths and timeframes simultaneously.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used to monitor trend direction across multiple periodicities from a single interface. By displaying EMAs from different timeframes in a consolidated dashboard, traders can quickly identify trend alignment or divergence.

Key applications include:

  • Trend Confluence: Identifying when short-term and long-term EMAs across different timeframes (e.g., 15m, 1h, 4h) are all signaling the same direction.
  • Dynamic Support/Resistance: Using the optional plotting feature to visualize specific EMA levels directly on the chart to identify potential reversal zones.
  • Custom Filtering: Selecting alternative data sources, such as outputs from other indicators or specific price points (High, Low, etc.), to drive the EMA calculations.

Details

The Exponential Moving Average (EMA) is a technical indicator that tracks the price of an investment over time, placing greater weight and significance on the most recent price data. This makes it more responsive to new information compared to a Simple Moving Average (SMA).

The dashboard implementation uses the request.security function to fetch data from different timeframes, ensuring that the calculations remain accurate relative to the selected period. The visual interface includes directional arrows (⬆️/⬇️) and color-coded backgrounds to indicate whether the current price is trading above or below the specific EMA value.

FAQ

How do I interpret the arrows in the dashboard? An "⬆️" indicates the current price is above the EMA (bullish alignment), while a "⬇️" indicates the price is below the EMA (bearish alignment).

Can I use this for non-price data? Yes, by changing the "EMA Source" in the General Configuration, you can apply the EMA calculation to other indicator outputs available on your chart.
