The Smart Trail Signals NO CONDITIONS indicator provides a dynamic volatility-based trailing system designed to identify trend reversals and establish trailing stop-loss levels. By adapting to market conditions using the Average True Range (ATR), the tool helps traders filter out market noise and stay aligned with the prevailing price direction.

Usage

The Smart Trail Signals NO CONDITIONS tool can be utilized across various asset classes and timeframes to determine the current trend bias.

  • Trend Reversals: A bullish trend change is signaled by a green diamond appearing below the price bar, while a bearish trend change is signaled by a red diamond appearing above the price bar.
  • Trailing Stop-Loss: The dynamic line acts as a trailing support (green) during uptrends and trailing resistance (red) during downtrends. Traders can use these levels to manage risk by placing stop-loss orders slightly behind the trail.
  • Trend Confirmation: The indicator colors the chart candles (green for bullish, red for bearish, and gray for neutral) to provide immediate visual feedback on the state of the market.

Details

The indicator logic is built upon a refined trailing stop mechanism that incorporates a sensitivity factor to adjust how closely the trail follows price action.

  • Dynamic Support/Resistance: During an uptrend, the support trail (trailUp) can only move upward or stay flat; it never decreases. Conversely, during a downtrend, the resistance trail (trailDown) can only move downward or stay flat.
  • Volatility Adjustment: The distance of the trail from the price is determined by the ATR multiplied by a user-defined multiplier and a sensitivity coefficient. This ensures that the trail expands during high volatility and tightens during low volatility.
  • Trend Switching: The trend direction flips when the price closes on the opposite side of the current trailing level, triggering a signal and changing the visual properties of the indicator.

Settings

  • Smart Trail Length: The lookback period used for the Average True Range (ATR) calculation.
  • Smart Trail Multiplier: Determines the distance between the price and the trail level based on volatility.
  • Smart Trail Source: The price data point used for calculations (default is Close).
  • Smart Trail Sensitivity (1-5): A fine-tuning parameter that scales the volatility factor to make the trail more or less reactive to price swings.

FAQ

How do I interpret the diamond signals?

A green diamond below a candle indicates a transition to a bullish trend, while a red diamond above a candle indicates a transition to a bearish trend.

What do the candle colors represent?

Green candles indicate price is above the trail in a bullish trend, red candles indicate price is below the trail in a bearish trend, and gray candles represent a neutral state where conditions for a strong trend are not yet fully met.
