Fibonacci Trend
Jan 13, 2025

The Fibonacci Trend indicator tool provides a comprehensive trend-following framework by combining Supertrend analysis with dynamic Fibonacci retracement levels to identify market direction and high-probability entry zones. It automatically calculates swing ranges and overlays Fibonacci levels to help traders visualize potential support, resistance, and retracement targets in real-time.
Usage
The indicator is designed to simplify trend-based trading by providing both directional bias and specific price levels for execution.
- Trend Identification: The script uses a Supertrend algorithm to color the chart background and trend line. A green color typically indicates an uptrend, while purple/red indicates a downtrend.
- Fibonacci Retracements: During an established trend, the tool identifies the current "swing leg" and plots retracement levels (0.236, 0.382, 0.50, 0.618, and 0.786). These levels serve as potential areas where a pullback might end and the primary trend resume.
- Optimal Trend Entry (OTE): A specific highlighted zone between the 0.618 and 0.786 Fibonacci levels marks the "Optimal Trend Entry" area. This is statistically a high-interest zone for traders looking to enter pullbacks with favorable risk-to-reward ratios.
- Swing Visualization: A dashed diagonal line connects the swing high and swing low, while labels display the exact price at these points to provide clarity on the current range being measured.
Details
The indicator manages Fibonacci calculations dynamically. It requires a minimum swing range (relative to ATR) to ensure that the levels plotted are significant and not just noise from minor price fluctuations. When the trend flips (determined by the Supertrend component), the tool resets the Fibonacci anchor points to the new swing high and low of the emerging trend.
The projection of Fibonacci levels is extended into the future (right side of the chart) using user-defined settings, allowing for better visibility of upcoming support or resistance levels before price reaches them.
Settings

- 1, 2, 3, 4: Allows users to customize the specific Fibonacci ratios used for the retracement levels (defaulting to 0.236, 0.382, 0.618, and 0.786).
FAQ
How do I access Fibonacci Trend?
You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
What does the shaded area represent?
The shaded area represents the "Optimal Trend Entry" zone, typically located between the 0.618 and 0.786 Fibonacci levels, which is often used as a target for entering trend-following positions during a retracement.
Why are the Fibonacci levels not showing on my chart?
The levels only appear when the current swing range is large enough to be significant (based on ATR). If the market is in a very tight range or consolidating heavily, the indicator may hide the levels to avoid clutter.
