10 ∴ MA Types Ribbons (Fibonacci, Guppy and others)
Aug 24, 2020

The RK's 10 ∴ MA Types Ribbons indicator is a versatile trend-analysis tool that plots up to 10 moving average lines in a ribbon format with automated length scaling and multiple smoothing algorithms. It provides traders with a comprehensive view of market momentum and trend strength across various mathematical sequences like Fibonacci and Guppy.
Usage
The ribbon can be used to identify trend direction, potential reversals, and areas of dynamic support or resistance. When the ribbon expands, it indicates a strengthening trend; when it contracts or twists, it signals potential consolidation or a trend change.
Traders can utilize several automated length evaluation modes:
- Fibonacci Sequence: Automatically sets MA lengths based on the Fibonacci number series starting from a selected nth term.
- Arithmetic Progression: Increments each MA length by a fixed step value.
- Geometric Progression: Increases lengths based on a constant ratio.
- Guppy Multiple Moving Average (GMMA): Replicates the Guppy ribbon structure (excluding lengths 3 and 5) to track short-term vs. long-term market participants.
Details
This script supports 23 different moving average types, ranging from standard SMA and EMA to more complex filters like Ehlers Super Smoother and Fractal Adaptive Moving Averages (FRAMA). It includes a "Quick Switch" feature using a numerical input to scroll through MA types rapidly via the mouse wheel. The indicator also allows for advanced price source modifications, such as treating prices logarithmically or applying a Symmetrical Weighting before calculating the averages.
Settings
Moving Average Setup
- Moving Average Type: Select from 23 types or use the numerical manual selector.
- Number of MA to Plot: Choose how many ribbon lines are visible (up to 10).
- Length Automatic Evaluate: Defines the mathematical progression used for MA lengths.
- Start MA Length: The base length for the first moving average.
- Step value: The increment used for Arithmetic and Geometric progressions.
Appearance and Alerts
- Colors Setup: Offers 39 predefined color themes.
- Colors change when: Determines the logic for color shifting (e.g., MA slope, price cross, or MA cross).
- Labels Setup: Controls the style, size, and position of information labels on the chart.
- Alert Character Style: Customizes the symbols used in visual alerts (e.g., rockets, bulls/bears, arrows).
FAQ
How do I change the Moving Average type quickly?
You can set the "Moving Average Setup" to "Use numbers to change MA Type" and then use the numerical input box to scroll through different types using your mouse wheel while viewing the info panel.
Can I set my own manual lengths for the ribbon?
While the script focuses on automatic sequences (Fibonacci, Arithmetic, etc.), the lengths are internally calculated based on your "Start MA Length" and "Step" inputs to maintain the ribbon structure.
How can I access RK's 10 ∴ MA Types Ribbons?
You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
