ICT Killzone Boxes
Apr 9, 2018

The ICT Killzone Boxes indicator identifies and highlights specific trading windows known as "Killzones" using dynamic overlay boxes based on the current daily high and low.
Usage
The indicator can be used to visually track institutional trading sessions, specifically the London and New York Open Killzones. Users can utilize these boxes to look for liquidity sweeps or reversals around the daily high and low during these volatile periods.
Examples of usage include:
- Session Monitoring: Identify the London Open (03:30–05:45) and New York Open (08:30–10:45) sessions automatically on the chart.
- Range Analysis: Use the dynamic box heights to gauge price action relative to the daily range.
- Multi-Zone Strategy: To track additional sessions like the London Close or New York Close, you can apply the indicator multiple times with adjusted session settings.
Details
The script calculates box boundaries using the current day's high and low prices retrieved via a security call. The height of the boxes is determined by a percentage of the total daily range, allowing the boxes to expand or contract as the day's price action unfolds. Unlike traditional background-highlighting indicators, this tool focuses on the extremes of the price action, providing a cleaner visual representation. The logic is adapted from the HLOC concepts by Chris Moody.
Settings
- Show High / Low: Toggles the visibility of the daily high and low price levels plotted as circles.
- KillZone London Open: Defines the session time for the London Killzone.
- KillZone NY Open: Defines the session time for the New York Killzone.
- Box Height: A float value that determines the vertical size of the boxes relative to the daily range. Positive values place boxes outside the high/low, while negative values place them inside.
- Fill Middle: Enables or disables the shaded area between the upper and lower boxes.
FAQ
How do I change the time for the Killzones?
You can adjust the session input fields in the indicator settings to match your preferred local time or specific trading strategy hours.
Why do the boxes move during the day?
The boxes are anchored to the daily high and low. As the market reaches new highs or lows throughout the session, the boxes will automatically adjust their vertical position to stay aligned with the current daily range.
