Timeweighted Colored VWAP with Slope
Jul 27, 2021

The Timeweighted Colored VWAP with Slope indicator tracks the momentum of the Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP) by measuring its rate of change against market volatility, providing real-time trend direction through color-coded signals.
Usage
The Usage section focuses on interpreting the VWAP's slope to identify potential trend shifts or periods of high momentum.
- Trend Identification: The VWAP line changes color based on the rate of change. A green line indicates a positive slope exceeding the defined threshold, suggesting bullish momentum, while a red line indicates a negative slope, suggesting bearish momentum.
- Signal Shapes: The script plots labels (shapes) on the chart when the momentum crosses the threshold. A label below the bar indicates a bullish shift, while a label above the bar indicates a bearish shift.
- Momentum Filtering: By using a change rate threshold, the script filters out minor price fluctuations, allowing traders to focus on significant moves where the VWAP is accelerating.
Details
The indicator calculates the rate of change of the standard VWAP value. To normalize this change across different price levels, it uses an average of two long-term Exponential Moving Averages (EMA 144 and EMA 169) as a denominator. This calculation determines the "slope" of the VWAP.
The color-coding logic is stateful: the color only changes when the rate of change breaks the user-defined threshold in the opposite direction. This creates a time-weighted effect where the current trend color is preserved until a sufficiently strong counter-move occurs.
Settings
- 偏移值 (Offset): Shifts the VWAP plot and signal shapes forward or backward in time on the x-axis.
- 变化率阈值 (Change Rate Threshold): Sets the sensitivity of the color change. A higher value requires a steeper VWAP slope to trigger a color change, effectively filtering out noise. A lower value makes the indicator more reactive to small price changes.
FAQ
How do I use the Timeweighted Colored VWAP with Slope?
The indicator is best used to confirm trend direction. Look for color changes and signal shapes as potential entry or exit points when the VWAP shows significant acceleration or deceleration.
What does the "Change Rate Threshold" do?
It acts as a filter. If the VWAP is moving sideways or very slowly, the color will remain the same. The color only switches when the slope becomes steep enough to cross this threshold.
