The Traders Support & Resistance Levels
May 12, 2025

The Traders Support & Resistance Levels indicator automatically detects pivot-based supply and demand zones while drawing dynamic trendlines to help traders identify key market structures and trend transitions.
Usage
The indicator identifies horizontal levels based on pivot highs and lows. These levels serve as potential areas of price reversal or breakout.
- Support & Resistance Levels: When a pivot is confirmed, the script plots a triangle (Down for resistance, Up for support) and draws a horizontal line. If multiple levels are confirmed, older significant levels are converted into broader zones (thick semi-transparent lines) to highlight historical significance.
- Trendline Logic: Dynamic trendlines connect the most recent two support or resistance points. The color of these lines changes based on the slope and the price's relationship to the line, indicating the strength of the current trend (e.g., strong uptrend, weak downtrend, or neutral).
- Breakout Detection: If "Show Breaks" is enabled, the indicator visually tracks when price closes beyond a level. Horizontal lines will change color (Red for bearish breaks, Green for bullish breaks) to signal a shift in market structure.
Details
The script utilizes customizable pivot logic where a level is confirmed only after a specific number of bars have passed to the left and right of the peak/trough. This ensures that only significant price turning points are captured.
To reduce lag, the script includes a "Preview" feature that draws "early" lines before the full right-bar confirmation is met. Once the pivot is fully confirmed, these preview lines are replaced by permanent levels. The trendline slope calculation uses a threshold to distinguish between aggressive price moves and consolidations.
Settings
- Show Breaks: Toggles the visual color change of levels when price breaks through them.
- Left Bars: The number of bars to the left required to detect a pivot.
- Right Bars: The number of bars to the right required to confirm a pivot.
- Early Bars (Line Preview): Sets how many bars are needed to show a temporary "draft" level before full confirmation.
- Volume Threshold: A parameter reserved for future volume-based filtering of levels.
- Slope Threshold: Determines the sensitivity of the trendline slope for trend strength categorization.
FAQ
How do I interpret the colored trendlines? The trendlines change color based on the slope and price position. Generally, steep slopes with price trading above/below the line indicate strong trends, while flatter slopes indicate neutral or weak market conditions.
What is the difference between a line and a zone in this script? Lines represent the most recent confirmed pivot levels. Zones are created from older confirmed lines to represent historical areas where price has previously reacted, suggesting a wider area of interest rather than a single price point.
