The IFVG GR Sign indicator is a comprehensive technical analysis tool designed to identify Inverted Fair Value Gaps (IFVG) and generate actionable signals based on ICT concepts and trend-following logic. It combines price action structures with moving average filters to provide high-probability entry and exit points for scalping and trend trading.

Usage

The tool can be used to identify potential market reversals or trend continuations by monitoring the breakout of previously established Fair Value Gaps.

  • Entry Signals (Sign A): Triggered when price closes through an FVG zone (inverting it) while aligned with the Moving Average trend. A buy signal (▲) occurs when a bearish FVG is broken to the upside during an uptrend; a sell signal (▼) occurs when a bullish FVG is broken to the downside during a downtrend.
  • Exit/Counter Signals (Sign B): Shown as an "X" mark, these signals appear when price breaks an IFVG against the current trend, suggesting a potential trend exhaustion or scalp exit.
  • Reversal Signals (Sign C): These identify strong engulfing patterns that cross the Moving Average, providing additional confirmation for trend shifts.

Details

The script operates by scanning historical bars for a 3-candle FVG pattern. A bullish FVG is defined when the low of the current candle is higher than the high of the candle two bars prior. Conversely, a bearish FVG exists when the high of the current candle is lower than the low of the candle two bars prior. The "Inversion" (IFVG) logic triggers when these gaps are subsequently breached by a closing price. To ensure quality, the script incorporates a trend filter requiring the price to be on the correct side of a sloping Moving Average (SMA or EMA) and enforces a minimum gap size (Pips) to filter out market noise.

Settings

IFVG Settings

  • Pip Size Multiplier: Adjusts the sensitivity of the pip calculation. Increase this if the chart produces too many signals.
  • FVG Search Lookback (Bars): Determines how many bars back the script scans to find valid FVG structures.
  • Min FVG Size & Break Margin (Pips): The minimum vertical distance required for a gap to be considered valid and the distance price must break past the gap to trigger a signal.
  • FVG Epsilon (Price Units): A tolerance setting allowing for tiny candle overlaps in the FVG detection logic.
  • Show IFVG Zones: Toggles the visual rendering of colored boxes over the detected gap zones.

MA Filter Settings

  • Use MA Filter & Show Line: Enables the trend-following requirement for entry signals.
  • MA Period: The lookback length for the filter moving average.
  • MA Type: Choose between SMA (Simple) or EMA (Exponential) for the trend filter.
  • Use Exit Signal Mode: Toggles the display of counter-trend "X" markers.

Reversal Logic Settings

  • Use Strong Reversal Entry: Enables the detection of engulfing patterns crossing the MA.
  • Min Reversal Body Size (Pips): Sets the minimum candle body size required for a reversal signal to trigger.

FAQ

How do I interpret the different shapes on the chart?

The triangle (▲/▼) represents a trend-aligned IFVG entry. The "X" mark represents an exit or counter-trend breakout, and the smaller triangle markers represent strong reversal engulfing patterns.

Can I use this for Higher Timeframe (HTF) analysis?

Yes, the script includes a dedicated section for HTF Zones, allowing you to display FVG/IFVG structures from a higher timeframe (e.g., 15m) on your current lower timeframe chart.
