The VWAP MA HLOC securities indicator provides a comprehensive suite of intraday reference levels, moving averages, and candlestick patterns to assist traders in identifying key market structures and momentum. By consolidating Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP), multi-day High-Low-Open-Close (HLOC) levels, and higher timeframe Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs), it offers a centralized dashboard for technical analysis.

Usage

The script is designed for intraday analysis and functions best on lower timeframes such as the 1-minute to 60-minute charts. Traders can use the various plotted levels to identify support, resistance, and trend direction.

  • Intraday Levels: The indicator plots the current day's open, high, and low, as well as the previous day's HLOC. These levels often act as significant psychological barriers or breakout points.
  • Moving Averages: It provides options to display the 20-period EMA for the current timeframe and several higher timeframes. For example, a 5-minute trader can monitor the 15-minute and 60-minute 20 EMAs to maintain perspective on the broader trend.
  • Candlestick Patterns: The indicator automatically identifies and labels "Inside Bars" (where the current bar's range is within the previous bar's range) and "Outside Bars." Inside bars are marked with a green triangle below and a ">" character above, signaling a period of consolidation.
  • Session Management: Users can select from various global exchange sessions (NYSE, London, NSE, etc.) to ensure the intraday calculations align with specific market hours.

Details

The script utilizes the request.security function to fetch data from the Daily ("D") timeframe and various minute timeframes to calculate fixed levels and moving averages regardless of the chart's current resolution.

The Inside Bar logic includes a tracking mechanism for subsequent bars that remain within the range of the initial setup. These are marked with a ">" symbol above the bar. The EMA logic is context-aware, filtering which higher timeframe averages are displayed based on the current chart period to maintain visual clarity.
