Crab Harmonic Pattern Harmonic Chart patterns
Jul 23, 2024

The Crab Harmonic Pattern indicator identifies specific reversal structures on charts using Fibonacci ratios to predict potential price turning points.
Usage
The Crab Harmonic Pattern is used to detect high-probability reversal zones in both bullish and bearish market conditions. Traders utilize this tool to identify the end of price corrections or the exhaustion of a trend.
- Bullish Crab: Visually resembles an 'M' shape. It signals a potential upward reversal after a deep correction, providing an entry point for long positions at the completion of the pattern.
- Bearish Crab: Visually resembles a 'W' shape. It indicates a potential downward reversal after a price peak, suggesting an exit for long positions or an entry for short positions.
The indicator plots these patterns automatically, allowing traders to focus on the Potential Reversal Zone (PRZ) where the price is expected to change direction based on precise Fibonacci measurements.
Details
The Crab pattern is distinguished by its specific Fibonacci retracement and extension levels. It typically features a deep 1.618 extension of the XA leg at the D point, making it one of the most extreme harmonic patterns. The script uses a ZigZag-based logic to identify pivots (X, A, B, C, D) and validates them against these harmonic ratios. The implementation allows for filtering "noisy" patterns to ensure only those adhering strictly to the harmonic structure are displayed.
Settings
Logical Setting
- ZigZag Pivot Period: Controls the sensitivity of the underlying ZigZag; a higher period identifies major swings, while a lower period identifies minor price movements.
- Show Valid Format: When enabled, filters out patterns that do not strictly adhere to the ideal harmonic ratios.
- Show Formation Last Pivot Confirm: If enabled, the pattern is only displayed once the final pivot is confirmed, reducing false signals but increasing lag.
- Period of Formation Last Pivot: Sets the lookback period required to confirm the final pivot point.
Display Setting
- Show Bullish/Bearish Pattern: Toggles the visibility of specific pattern types.
- Color Bullish/Bearish Pattern: Customizes the visual color for the drawn patterns.
- Width Line: Adjusts the thickness of the lines connecting the harmonic pivots.
- Label size: Changes the font size of the pivot labels (X, A, B, C, D).
- Switching Colors Theme Mode: Adjusts the color palette for Light or Dark charting themes.
Alert
- Alert: Toggles the alert functionality on or off.
- Alert Name: Sets a custom name for the triggered alert.
- Message Frequency: Controls how often alerts trigger (All, Once Per Bar, or Per Bar Close).
- Show Alert time by Time Zone: Sets the timestamp for alerts based on the specified UTC offset.
