The DRSI DMA Scalping Strategy indicator is a comprehensive momentum and trend-following tool designed to identify high-probability scalping opportunities by analyzing the synchronized slopes of moving averages and momentum oscillators. It filters price action through dual-slope analysis to ensure trades are taken only when trend direction and momentum intensity align.

Usage

The strategy functions by monitoring two primary oscillator lines: the Moving Average (MA) Slope and the Momentum Slope. A zero value represents a flat or sideways market.

  • Long Entries: Occur when both the MA Slope and the Momentum Slope cross above the user-defined "Buy Threshold."
  • Short Entries: Occur when both lines cross below the user-defined "Sell Threshold."
  • Volatility Filtering: The script includes a "Low Volatility Function" that can pivot the strategy logic during quiet markets, switching to a secondary Big MA analysis to avoid false signals in choppy conditions.

Users can adjust the time resolution to a higher timeframe than the chart, allowing for "MTF" (Multi-Timeframe) analysis. If the lines appear jagged, it is often an indication that the script is pulling data from a higher timeframe to provide a macro perspective on a micro-chart.

Details

The strategy calculates the rate of change (slope) for both a customizable trend indicator and a momentum indicator.

  • MA Slope: This tracks the percentage change of a selected moving average (e.g., EMA, TEMA, Hull MA) over a specific lookback period.
  • Momentum Slope: This tracks the rate of change for oscillators like RSI or CCI.
  • No Repaint Logic: The script utilizes a request.security implementation that ensures data from higher timeframes is processed without repainting, making backtest results more representative of live execution.

Settings

Moving Average

  • MA Type: Choose between 8 different types including SMA, EMA, WMA, HullMA, VWMA, RMA, TEMA, and Tilson T3.
  • Moving Average Length: The lookback period for the primary trend calculation.
  • MA Slope Lookback: The number of bars used to calculate the trajectory (slope) of the MA.
  • MA Slope Smoothing: Applies a simple moving average to the slope to reduce noise.

Momentum Moving Average

  • Momentum Type: Choose between RSI, CCI, or a specialized RSI of ROC.
  • Momentum Length: The lookback period for the chosen momentum oscillator.
  • Momentum Slope Lookback/Smoothing: Adjusts the calculation and reactivity of the momentum line.

Time Resolution

  • Higher timeframe?: Determines the timeframe from which the slopes are calculated.
  • MA Slope multiplier: Scales the output for better visibility when using alternate resolutions.

Low Volatility Function

  • Big MA Length: The period for the volatility-detecting moving average.
  • Minimum volatility to trade: The threshold below which the strategy switches to its low-volatility logic.

FAQ

How do I interpret the zero line?

The zero line indicates a slope of zero, meaning the price or momentum is moving sideways. Values significantly above or below zero indicate the strength of the trend.

Why are the lines "steppy" or jagged?

This happens when the "Higher timeframe" setting is different from your current chart timeframe. The indicator is displaying data from a broader interval (e.g., 1-hour data on a 1-minute chart).
