The Multiple Anchored VWAP indicator allows users to plot up to four independent Anchored Volume Weighted Average Price lines from specific points in time to identify key support and resistance levels based on volume and price action.

Usage

The Multiple Anchored VWAP is used to track the average price of an asset starting from a specific event, such as a major high, low, earnings report, or market shift. By anchoring the VWAP to these points, traders can assess whether buyers or sellers have remained in control since that event.

Example use cases include:

  • Anchoring to a significant swing high to find potential resistance.
  • Anchoring to a significant swing low to find potential support.
  • Using multiple lines to see how different historical events overlap to create confluence zones.

Details

The Anchored VWAP (aVWAP) differs from a standard VWAP by allowing the user to define the exact starting point (anchor) for the cumulative calculation of price and volume. This indicator calculates the cumulative sum of (Price * Volume) divided by the cumulative sum of Volume, resetting specifically at the user-defined timestamp. This specific implementation allows for four concurrent calculations, providing a broader view of market psychology over various timeframes on a single chart.
