The RSI + MA + Divergence + SnR + Price level tool provides a comprehensive technical analysis suite centered on the Relative Strength Index (RSI), integrating moving averages, divergence detection, automated support and resistance levels, and a unique price ladder for predictive analysis. By combining these multiple technical layers, it aims to deliver a unified view of momentum, trend confirmation, and potential reversal zones within a single pane.

Usage

The script is designed to help traders interpret momentum through several interconnected features:

  • Trend Identification: Use the EMA 9 and WMA 45 plotted over the RSI to determine trend direction. An uptrend is generally indicated when the three lines (RSI, EMA, WMA) separate and point upward, while a downtrend is indicated by them pointing downward.
  • Trend Confirmation: Crossovers between the EMA 9 and WMA 45 can signal the start of a new trend. Additionally, the WMA 45 position relative to the 50 level helps define market state (Uptrend above 50, Downtrend below 50, Sideways around 50).
  • Price Forecasting: The Price Ladder feature displays calculated price levels corresponding to specific RSI targets (e.g., 20, 30, 70, 80). This helps traders set price-based take-profit or stop-loss orders based on momentum targets.
  • Divergence Trading: Identify potential market reversals when the price makes a new high/low that is not confirmed by the RSI. Bullish and bearish labels can be enabled to highlight these events.
  • Support & Resistance: Use the Auto SnR feature to see where the RSI has historically pivoted. These zones often act as barriers where the RSI (and price) might react again.

Details

The indicator performs several distinct calculations to provide its outputs:

  • Price Ladder Logic: Unlike static horizontal lines, the price ladder uses the averaged gains and losses over the RSI period to estimate what the current market price would be if the RSI reached a specific target level.
  • Divergence Logic: It searches for pivot points within a specific lookback window to identify discrepancies between price action and momentum.
  • Dynamic Smoothing: The use of both EMA (Exponential) and WMA (Weighted) averages on the RSI allows for a balance between fast-acting signals and smoother, long-term trend identification.

Settings

RSI

  • RSI Length: The number of periods used for the RSI calculation (default 14).
  • Source: The price data used for the RSI (default is close).
  • EMA/WMA Length: The periods for the moving averages plotted over the RSI.
  • RSI Levels for Trend: Configurable thresholds to define uptrend and downtrend zones.

Price ladder

  • Show price ladder: Toggles the visibility of price targets on the chart.
  • RSI level 1-7: User-defined RSI targets for which the corresponding price will be calculated.
  • Ladder distance: Adjusts the horizontal offset of the price labels.

Divergence

  • Show Divergence: Enables the detection and plotting of divergence lines.
  • Show divergence when RSI <= / >=: Thresholds to filter divergence signals to only overbought or oversold regions.
  • Show Label: Toggles text labels ("Bull" / "Bear") for detected divergences.

Auto SnR

  • Enable: Toggles the automatic RSI support and resistance lines.
  • RSI SnR Lookback level 1-3: Defines the lookback periods (e.g., 34, 89, 200) used to find historical RSI peaks and valleys.

FAQ

How do I use the Price Ladder for exits?

You can look at the price labels associated with the RSI 70 or 80 levels to estimate where the price might be when the market becomes overbought, helping you set realistic Take Profit targets.

What does the background color represent?

The background colors indicate the market mode: green for bullish trends, red for bearish trends, and gray for neutral or sideways conditions based on the relationship between the RSI and its moving averages.
