EMA Cross and MACD Signal Combined
Feb 6, 2021

The EMA Cross and MACD Signal Combined indicator identifies potential swing trading opportunities by combining trend confirmation from Exponential Moving Averages with momentum signals from the MACD.
Usage
This tool is primarily designed for swing traders looking to capture medium-to-long-term trends. A signal is generated when two conditions align, ensuring that momentum is supported by a trend crossover.
- Buy Signal (B): Triggered when the Fast EMA crosses the Slow EMA while the MACD line is above the Signal line.
- Sell Signal (S): Triggered when the Fast EMA crosses the Slow EMA while the MACD line is below the Signal line.
The script also features a dynamic cloud between the Fast and Slow EMAs to help visualize the current trend direction and a 200-period Direction EMA to identify the long-term bias.
Details
The indicator relies on the concept of dual-confirmation. While a MACD crossover suggests a shift in momentum, it can often produce false signals in sideways markets. By requiring an EMA cross as a secondary condition, the script filters out minor fluctuations, focusing on entries where the trend has statistically significant support. The inclusion of multiple EMA lengths (Momentum, Fast, Slow, and Direction) allows traders to view the market structure across different time horizons simultaneously.

FAQ
How do I use the signals for swing trading?
The signals are most effective when the price is also aligned with the Direction EMA (200-period). Traders often look for "B" signals when the price is above the 200 EMA and "S" signals when the price is below it.
Can I change the sensitivity of the signals?
Yes, by adjusting the Fast and Slow EMA periods in the settings, you can make the indicator more reactive (shorter periods) or more conservative (longer periods).
