The Momentum Marks - Buy and Sell Indicators tool is a multi-factor entry signal system that highlights potential market reversals by combining trend, momentum, volatility, and volume conditions into clear on-chart labels.

Usage

The indicator can be used to identify high-probability entry points where multiple technical factors align. A "BUY" label appears when price is below the fast EMA, the fast EMA is below the slow EMA, price is near the bottom of the Linear Regression Channel, momentum is strengthening, and volume is surging. Conversely, a "SHORT" label appears when price is above the fast EMA, the fast EMA is above the slow EMA, price is near the top of the channel, momentum is weakening, and volume is fading.

These signals are "hard-anchored" by default, meaning they only appear once a bar is confirmed to prevent repainting. Users can use these markers as primary signals or as confirmation for existing trading strategies.

Details

The script integrates several distinct technical methodologies to ensure robust signal generation:

  • EMA Trend Filter: Uses a 9 and 21 EMA crossover logic to ensure signals align with the immediate trend structure.
  • RSI Extremes: Filters out signals in neutral zones, requiring RSI to be above 65 for shorts or below 35 for buys.
  • Linear Regression Channel: Utilizes a 100-period regression line with ±2 standard deviation bands to identify overextended price action relative to the mean.
  • TTM Squeeze Histogram: Evaluates momentum shifts by comparing price to its EMA, ensuring trade direction matches momentum velocity.
  • Volume Confirmation: Validates entries by ensuring participation strength matches the expected move.

Settings

  • Fast EMA / Slow EMA: Adjusts the period for the trend-following moving averages.
  • RSI Length / Overbought / Oversold: Configures the momentum oscillator period and the threshold levels for extreme conditions.
  • Linear Regression Length: Sets the lookback period for the regression channel calculation.
  • TTM Squeeze Length: Adjusts the period for the momentum histogram calculation.
  • Marker offset (ticks): Controls the vertical distance between the signal labels and the price bars.
  • Require confirmed bars: When enabled, prevents signals from shifting or appearing on the live candle until it closes.
  • Show plotshape arrows: Toggles the visibility of secondary triangle markers.

FAQ

How do I interpret the signals?

A Green "BUY" label indicates a potential long entry where price is oversold and momentum is shifting upward. A Red "SHORT" label indicates a potential sell entry where price is overbought and momentum is weakening.

What timeframes does this work best on?

The indicator is versatile and can be applied to any timeframe; however, users should adjust the EMA and Linear Regression lengths to suit the volatility of their specific chart.
