Grid Bot RSI
Mar 2, 2021

The Grid Bot RSI indicator simulates grid-based trading zones within an RSI oscillator to identify potential entry and exit points based on momentum shifts.
Usage
The indicator divides the RSI range into specific trade zones or "grids." Signal generation follows a specific logic:
- Buy Signals: Triggered when the RSI crosses into a higher zone after a period of descent.
- Sell Signals: Triggered when the RSI crosses into a lower zone after a period of ascent.
Once a signal is triggered, the tool will not produce a new signal until the RSI moves into a more favorable zone, preventing redundant signals in flat markets. Users can utilize the "Market Direction" setting to bias the bot toward long or short positions in trending environments.
Details
The script functions by mapping the standard 0-100 RSI range into discrete intervals. It supports two types of oscillators: the standard RSI and the Jurik RSX, the latter providing a smoother calculation with less lag. The core logic tracks the "last signal index" to ensure that trades are only executed when the momentum has sufficiently progressed from the previous zone.
Experimental features like the No Trade Zone allow users to filter out noise in the middle of the RSI range (e.g., 40-60), while Aggression Levels control how many signals are stacked at extreme overbought or oversold levels.
Settings
General Settings
- RSI Length: Determines the lookback period for the RSI calculation.
- Number of Grids: Sets how many horizontal trade zones are created within the 0-100 range.
- RSI Type: Choose between the standard RSI or the Jurik RSX for smoother data.
- Show All Grids: Toggles the visibility of the horizontal grid lines on the indicator pane.
Strategy Settings
- Market Direction: Filters signals based on trend bias. "Up" skips every other sell signal (favoring buys), "Down" skips every other buy signal (favoring sells), and "Neutral" shows all signals.
- No Trade Zone: Defines a central RSI range where no signals will be generated to avoid whipsaws.
- Aggression Level: Adjusts the sensitivity for stacking signals at extreme RSI levels (Low, Med, High).
FAQ
How do I access Grid Bot RSI?
You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
What is the difference between RSI and RSX?
The RSX (Relative Strength Quality Index) is a "noise-free" version of the RSI that uses a Jurik smoothing algorithm to reduce lag while maintaining a smooth output.
Why aren't signals appearing in the middle of the chart?
Check your "No Trade Zone" setting. By default, signals are often filtered out in the 35-65 RSI range to ensure trades are only taken during clearer momentum shifts.
