The Dual RSI Smoother indicator utilizes two smoothed and amplified Relative Strength Index (RSI) calculations to identify potential trend reversals and momentum shifts in the market.

Usage

The Dual RSI Smoother provides visual cues to help traders identify overbought and oversold conditions. It can be used for both trend confirmation and reversal spotting.

  • Buy Signals: Green dots appear below the RSI lines when the market is in an oversold state. This typically occurs when both RSI calculations are at low levels or when a significant divergence exists between the fast and slow RSI components.
  • Sell Signals: Red dots appear above the RSI lines when the market reaches overbought conditions. This is triggered by high RSI values or specific expansion characteristics between the two smoothed lines.
  • Trend Analysis: The interaction between the two smoothed RSI lines can indicate trend strength. When the lines are widely separated or crossing, it may signal a shift in market momentum.

Details

The script functions by calculating two separate RSI values using user-defined lengths. These values then undergo a Simple Moving Average (SMA) smoothing process to filter out market noise. Following the smoothing, an amplification factor is applied to both results to make the momentum fluctuations more distinct within the 0-100 scale.

The signal logic is based on specific thresholds:

  • Oversold Logic: Combines absolute levels (e.g., RSI values below 30/35) and relative differences between the two lines to highlight deep exhaustion.
  • Overbought Logic: Triggers when the amplified RSI 1 exceeds 75 with a specific spread, or when it reaches extreme levels above 95.

Settings

  • RSI Length 1 & 2: Determines the lookback period for the initial RSI calculations.
  • Smooth Length RSI 1 & 2: Sets the period for the SMA smoothing applied to each RSI.
  • Slow RSI Line Color: The color for the primary smoothed RSI line.
  • Fast RSI Line Color: The color for the secondary smoothed RSI line.
  • Buy Line Highlight Color: Adjusts the color of the second RSI line when specific bullish conditions are met.
  • Buy Dot Color: Customizable color for the bullish reversal markers.
  • Sell Dot Color: Customizable color for the bearish reversal markers.
