The Dynamic Supply and Demand Zones tool identifies and visualizes key market areas using a dynamic look-back mechanism to help traders pinpoint potential reversal points and support/resistance levels.

Usage

The tool is primarily used to identify areas of price consolidation or imbalance where reversals are likely to occur. By observing the color-coded zones, traders can gauge market sentiment:

  • Bullish Zones (Green): Represent potential support areas where demand exceeds supply.
  • Bearish Zones (Red): Represent potential resistance areas where supply exceeds demand.
  • Dynamic Look-Back: When enabled, the indicator automatically anchors its analysis to the most recent significant pivot point, ensuring that the displayed zones are relevant to the current market structure.
  • Volume Profile: The optional profile on the right side of the chart helps visualize volume distribution within the selected look-back period, providing context to the strength of each zone.

Details

The indicator functions by first detecting pivot highs and lows over a user-defined period. These pivots establish the reference range for calculations. The price range within this look-back is divided into "bins" based on the Resolution setting. The script calculates the volume for each bin by accumulating the volume of all candles intersecting that specific price range.

A zone is identified as "significant" if its volume is lower than the adjacent bins (a local minimum in volume distribution), filtered by the Zone Tolerance parameter. This logic identifies price "gaps" or areas of low interest that often act as boundaries between high-volume nodes. The zones are then dynamically colored based on the price action relative to the zone boundaries.

Settings

Main Calculation

  • Use Dynamic Look-Back: Toggles between a fixed look-back period and a dynamic one that anchors to the last detected pivot.
  • Look-back: Sets the fixed number of bars to analyze if Dynamic Look-Back is disabled.
  • Pivot Point Detection Period: Determines the sensitivity and delay for identifying major high and low pivot points.
  • Resolution: Defines the number of vertical bins used to calculate the volume distribution.
  • Profile Horizontal Width: Adjusts the visual width of the volume profile histogram.
  • Zone Tolerance: Filters zone detection; lower values result in fewer, more strictly defined zones.

Appearance

  • Show Profile: Toggles the visibility of the volume profile histogram on the right.
  • Show Background Box: Displays a box highlighting the total area of data currently being analyzed.
  • Levels Color: Sets the default color for neutral zones and borders.
  • Bullish/Bearish Color: Customizes the colors used for zones when price indicates bullish or bearish sentiment.

FAQ

How do I use the Dynamic Supply and Demand Zones?

The indicator identifies potential reversal zones automatically. You should look for price reactions or candlestick patterns when the price enters a green (bullish) or red (bearish) zone to confirm potential entries.

What is the advantage of the Dynamic Look-Back?

Unlike fixed-period indicators, the dynamic look-back adjusts to market structure by starting its calculation from the most recent significant pivot, making the zones more responsive to the current trend.
