The CM_UCS_MODIFIED SLINGSHOT [ALERTS] indicator is a trend-following tool designed to identify conservative and aggressive entry points based on moving average envelopes and price action.

Usage

The indicator can be used to identify trend continuation opportunities through two primary methods:

  • Conservative Entries: These occur when the trend is established (all short-term EMAs are outside the envelope) and the price successfully breaks back out of the central envelope. This suggests a resumption of the primary trend after a pullback.
  • Aggressive Pullbacks: These signals occur when the trend is established but the price is currently trading within the envelope, indicating a potential "buy the dip" or "sell the rip" opportunity before the breakout occurs.

The indicator plots binary values (1 or 0) on a separate pane to clearly highlight when conservative entry conditions are met for both bullish and bearish scenarios.

Details

The script utilizes several layers of Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs) to define trend and volatility:

  • Short-Term EMAs: 13, 21, and 34 periods are used to gauge immediate momentum.
  • Baseline & Volatility: An 89-period EMA acts as the baseline, with an 89-period EMA of the True Range (TR) defining an envelope around it.

A "Slingshot" setup is defined when the short-term EMAs are positioned entirely above (Bullish) or below (Bearish) the 89-period envelope. The "Modified" aspect focuses on the specific interaction between the price and this envelope to filter for high-probability entries.

Settings

As a streamlined alert-optimized tool, this version focuses on the core logic:

  • Conservative Up Trend Entry: Visualizes when the price crosses back above the upper envelope during an established uptrend.
  • Conservative Down Trend Entry: Visualizes when the price crosses back below the lower envelope during an established downtrend.
