Trend Reversal Predictor
Jun 30, 2023

The Trend Reversal Predictor indicator is a comprehensive technical analysis tool designed to identify potential exhaustion points and "danger zones" where a prevailing trend may reverse.
Usage
The indicator functions by highlighting specific areas on the chart where multiple trend and momentum conditions align to suggest a reversal. These "danger zones" are visually represented by background coloring:
- Bearish Danger Zone (Red): Occurs during an uptrend when buying volume slows down, net price movement turns negative, and the RSI crosses below its moving average. This suggests the uptrend is losing steam.
- Bullish Danger Zone (Green): Occurs during a downtrend when selling volume slows down, net price movement turns positive, and the RSI crosses above its moving average. This suggests the downtrend is reaching exhaustion.
Traders can use these zones as early warnings to tighten stop-losses or look for counter-trend entry opportunities when confirmed by price action or other technical filters.
Details
The script utilizes a multi-step verification process to filter out noise:
- Trend Identification: It establishes the primary trend direction using a combination of the Hull Moving Average (HMA) and the Parabolic SAR (PSAR).
- Volume Analysis: It calculates the rate of change (ROC) for volume and compares it against a 5-period average to detect volume slowdowns, which often precede trend changes.
- Price Dynamics: It monitors the average net price movement over recent bars to ensure the momentum is shifting in the expected direction.
- RSI Momentum: It integrates the Relative Strength Index (RSI) with a customizable Moving Average. A cross between the RSI and its MA serves as the final momentum trigger for the danger zone.
