The L3 Volume Profile Pro indicator is a professional-grade volume analysis tool that visualizes market structure through Volume Profile theory, identifying institutional liquidity zones. It provides a comprehensive view of market dynamics by displaying the Point of Control (POC), Value Area boundaries, delta intensity, and real-time trading signals based on volume flow.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used to interpret market intent and institutional activity. This tool is designed for higher timeframes (15m to 4H) on high-liquidity assets like Futures, Forex, and Crypto.

Core Visualization

The indicator provides several visual layers to assist in market analysis:

  • Point of Control (POC): Represented by an orange line, this is the price level with the highest traded volume. It serves as a price magnet and a key support/resistance level.
  • Value Area (VA): A blue cloud between the Value Area High (VAH) and Value Area Low (VAL) that encompasses 70% of the total volume, defining the "fair value" zone.
  • Delta Heatmap: The background color intensity changes based on the volume delta (buy vs. sell pressure), with green indicating bullish intent and red indicating bearish intent.

Signal Interpretation

  • POC Interactions: Look for price bounces or rejections at the POC line. A bounce with positive delta suggests bullish continuation, while a rejection with negative delta suggests bearish pressure.
  • VA Breakouts: Price breaking out of the Value Area (above VAH or below VAL) often signals the start of a trend, while rejection at these boundaries suggests a return to fair value.
  • POC Migration: The tool tracks the movement of the POC across consecutive bars. An upward migration indicates accumulation, while a downward migration indicates distribution.
  • Delta Divergence: Signals are generated when price makes a new high/low that is not confirmed by the volume delta.

Details

The indicator utilizes the request.footprint() function to access granular price and volume data. It calculates market structure based on standard Volume Profile principles:

  • Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD): A running total of buying and selling pressure to identify sustained trends.
  • Imbalance Detection: The script compares buy and sell volume at specific price levels. When one side significantly outweighs the other (based on the Imbalance Threshold), it highlights potential aggressive market participation.
  • Institutional Magnetism: By tracking historical POCs ("Magnet Lines"), the script identifies levels where significant liquidity remains, which often act as future targets for price action.

Settings

Footprint Core Settings

  • Ticks Per Row: Defines the price granularity for each volume row. Lower values provide more detail.
  • Value Area Percent (%): Sets the percentage of volume used to calculate the Value Area (standard is 70%).
  • Imbalance Threshold (%): Sensitivity for detecting buy/sell imbalances (e.g., 300% means buying volume is 3x selling volume).

Visualization Settings

  • Show POC Lines: Toggles the display of the Point of Control line.
  • Show Value Area Cloud: Toggles the VAH-VAL zone background.
  • Show Volume Histogram: Displays a mini-histogram on the right side of the chart.
  • Show POC Migration Arrows: Shows arrows indicating accumulation/distribution patterns.
  • Show POC Magnet Lines: Draws lines from historical POCs to current price levels.
  • Show Delta Heatmap Background: Toggles intensity-based background coloring.

Signal & Alert Settings

  • Enable POC/VA/Divergence Signals: Individual toggles for different signal types.
  • POC Touch Threshold: Uses an ATR multiplier to determine how close price must be to the POC to trigger a touch signal.
  • Divergence Detection Lookback: Sets the period for detecting pivots in delta divergence.
  • Enable All Alerts: Master switch for all notification types including breakouts and rejections.
