Oscillators

The Aggressive Momentum Signal indicator provides traders with a weighted momentum oscillator designed to identify high-probability entry points and changes in market velocity.

Usage

The indicator is primarily used to time entries when a trader already has a directional bias. It serves as a tool for identifying momentum alignment at short timeframes.

  • Trend Continuation: When price is in an established trend, use the signal spikes to time entries during pullbacks where momentum begins to realign with the primary trend.
  • Momentum Reversal: Sudden shifts in the histogram from positive to negative (or vice-versa) can indicate an exhaustive move and a potential reversal in short-term price action.
  • Signal Frequency: The frequency of signals can be used to gauge trend strength. A high frequency of aligned signals often suggests a strong trend, while a decreasing frequency may suggest a diminishing reward-to-risk ratio.

Details

The indicator calculates its output based on a weighted sum of three distinct components:

  1. Fast SuperTrend: A responsive ATR-based trailing stop calculation used to capture immediate trend shifts.
  2. Slow SuperTrend: A more conservative ATR-based calculation used to provide a baseline for the broader trend.
  3. Stochastic RSI: A momentum oscillator that is filtered to only provide signals when trending between overbought and oversold levels, ensuring it captures active momentum rather than exhaustion.

The values from these three components are multiplied by their respective user-defined weights and summed. When the total exceeds the "Signal Threshold," a high-intensity signal bar is plotted.

Settings

Main Settings

  • Signal Threshold: The numerical value the combined weights must exceed to trigger a definitive signal.
  • SuperTrend Fast Weight: The influence of the fast SuperTrend on the final signal.
  • SuperTrend Fast Length: The ATR period used for the fast SuperTrend.
  • SuperTrend Fast Factor: The multiplier used for the fast SuperTrend.
  • SuperTrend Slow Weight: The influence of the slow SuperTrend on the final signal.
  • SuperTrend Slow Length: The ATR period used for the slow SuperTrend.
  • SuperTrend Slow Factor: The multiplier used for the slow SuperTrend.

Stochastic RSI Settings

  • Stochastic RSI Weight: The influence of the Stochastic RSI component on the final signal.
  • RSI Source: The price source used for the RSI calculation (e.g., HLC3).
  • RSI Length: The period for the RSI calculation.
  • Stochastic Length: The period for the Stochastic calculation.
  • K / D: Smoothing periods for the %K and %D lines.
  • Upper / Lower Band: The levels at which the Stochastic RSI is considered overbought or oversold, affecting the signal negation.

FAQ

How do I interpret the histogram?

The light-colored histogram bars represent the raw weighted momentum value. When the value crosses the Signal Threshold, the bar becomes solid and brightly colored, indicating a high-conviction momentum signal.

Can this be used on any timeframe?

While designed for short-term timing and "aggressive" entries, the logic is applicable to any timeframe where momentum and trend alignment are relevant.
