BTC Margin Sniper w/ Alerts
Apr 6, 2018

The BTC Margin Sniper w/ Alerts indicator is a momentum-based trend reversal tool designed to identify overextended market conditions and signal potential entry points on the price chart.
Usage
The BTC Margin Sniper w/ Alerts utilizes dual-level overbought and oversold thresholds to categorize trade setups. By monitoring the relationship between an exponential moving average and typical price variance, the script detects when price momentum is reaching "Mild" or "Major" extremes.
A signal is generated only when price has exceeded a threshold and the short-term trend confirms a reversal (via a cross between the oscillator and its signal line).
- Mild Signals (5x): Occur when the oscillator is between the mild and major thresholds and changes direction.
- Major Signals (10x): Occur when the oscillator exceeds the major threshold and changes direction, indicating a more significant overextension.
Users can apply this indicator to various assets and timeframes, though it was originally optimized for BTC. To use the alerts, select the script in the alert menu and choose the specific threshold condition (Mild or Major) that suits your risk profile.
Details
The script is based on a Wave Trend calculation involving an Exponential Moving Average (EMA) of the typical price (HLC3). It calculates a Commodity Index (CI) by dividing the price deviation from the EMA by a smoothed absolute deviation. This index is then smoothed again to create the primary oscillator (WT1) and a simple moving average (SMA) of that oscillator (WT2) to serve as a signal line for trend changes.
Settings
- Channel Length: Adjusts the period for the initial price smoothing and deviation calculations.
- Average Length: Sets the smoothing period for the final momentum oscillator.
- Mild Overbought: The threshold for initial bearish reversal signals (typically 5x labels).
- Major Overbought: The threshold for extreme bearish reversal signals (typically 10x labels).
- Mild Oversold: The threshold for initial bullish reversal signals (typically 5x labels).
- Major Oversold: The threshold for extreme bullish reversal signals (typically 10x labels).
FAQ
How do I access BTC Margin Sniper w/ Alerts?
You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
Can I change the leverage labels on the chart?
The leverage text (5x/10x) is hardcoded as a suggestion based on signal strength; however, you can interpret these labels as "Confidence Level 1" and "Confidence Level 2" regardless of your actual leverage.
Why am I not seeing many signals?
If you increase the Major Overbought or decrease the Major Oversold thresholds, the trigger becomes more precise and requires a deeper price extension to fire, resulting in fewer but potentially higher-probability signals.
