The Williams Fractals with Alerts indicator provides a clear visualization of potential pivot points on a chart, enhanced with customizable alerts and filtering options for improved signal clarity.

Usage

The Williams Fractals with Alerts tool is primarily used to identify temporary support and resistance levels. Traders can utilize these pivot points to mark key price levels on higher timeframes.

A common strategy involves:

  1. Identifying and marking major resistance or support levels on a higher timeframe (e.g., 5-minute chart).
  2. Configuring alerts to trigger when a new fractal forms.
  3. Monitoring price action on a lower timeframe (e.g., 1-minute chart) when a fractal appears near a pre-marked level.
  4. Looking for price rejection at these levels to confirm a potential reversal before entering a trade.

Details

Williams Fractals are technical indicators used to identify reversal points in the market. A bullish fractal occurs when there is a low point with two higher lows on each side of it. Conversely, a bearish fractal occurs when there is a high point with two lower highs on each side. This specific implementation includes a filtering mechanism to limit the number of visible fractals, reducing chart clutter and focusing on recent price action.

Settings

  • Periods: Determines the number of bars required on each side of the central high/low to qualify as a fractal.
  • Filter fractals: A toggle that enables or disables the filtering of historical fractals to maintain a cleaner interface.
  • Show Previous Fractals: When filtering is enabled, this setting controls the specific number of past fractals displayed on the chart.
