Main Market Opener Breakout
Jul 14, 2023

The Main Market Opener Breakout [RH] indicator identifies and marks potential breakout levels based on the opening range of major global stock market sessions. By isolating the high and low of the first candle in a session, the tool provides traders with clear trigger points for bullish or bearish price action throughout the trading day.
Usage
The tool is designed to capture significant price movements that typically occur during the start of major market sessions. Traders can use it to:
- Identify Opening Ranges: The script automatically marks the high and low of the first 15-minute or 30-minute candle (depending on chart timeframe) of the New York, London, or Tokyo sessions.
- Confirm Breakouts: A close above the initial high signals bullish momentum, while a close below the initial low suggests bearish momentum.
- Filter Noise with ATR: Dashed lines are plotted above and below the initial high/low based on the Average True Range (ATR). These levels act as secondary confirmation points to help filter out false breakouts or "noise."
- Multi-Session Analysis: Users can enable multiple sessions simultaneously to observe how different market openers interact with price throughout a 24-hour cycle.
Details
The indicator focuses on the "Regular Trading Sessions" for major exchanges:
- New York (NYSE): 09:30 - 16:00 ET.
- London (LSE): 08:00 - 16:30 GMT.
- Tokyo (TSE): 09:00 - 15:00 JST.
For non-stock tickers (like Forex or Crypto), the tool looks specifically for the opening candle of these sessions. For stock tickers, it defaults to marking the first candle of the trading day. The script calculates an ATR-based offset from the session's opening candle to provide dynamic breakout thresholds.

FAQ
How do I interpret the shapes on the chart? Triangles indicate a breakout of the initial candle's high or low. Diamonds indicate a breakout of the ATR-adjusted levels, which typically require more significant price movement to trigger.
Can I use this on any timeframe? While it works on various timeframes, it is most effective on lower timeframes like 15m or 30m to accurately capture the specific opening candle of the session.
