Premarket and Opening Range (First 30 minutes) Levels
Dec 31, 2024

The Premarket and Opening Range (First 30 minutes) Levels indicator automatically identifies and plots critical intraday support and resistance levels derived from early price action to help traders anticipate breakout and reversal points.
Usage
The tool can be used to identify key areas of interest during the regular trading session.
- Premarket Levels: The script tracks the highest and lowest prices reached during the premarket session (04:00 to 09:30). These levels appear on the chart once the market opens and act as significant historical reference points for the remainder of the day.
- Opening Range (30-Minute): The script tracks the high and low of the first 30 minutes of the market session. These levels are plotted immediately after the 30-minute window concludes and are often used by traders to determine the "opening range breakout" direction.
Example: If price breaks above the Opening Range High with strong volume, a trader might look for a continuation move. Conversely, if price fails to break the Premarket High and returns into the range, it could signal a potential mean-reversion trade.
Details
The script monitors price action during specific time windows based on the exchange time.
- Premarket Window: Defined from 04:00 to 09:30.
- Opening Range Window: Defined from 09:30 to 10:00.
- Auto-Cleanup: To maintain chart clarity, the horizontal rays are automatically removed at the market close (16:00), ensuring the chart is clean for the next trading day.
- Alerts: Built-in alerts trigger when the price crosses over or under any of the four tracked levels (Premarket High/Low or Opening Range High/Low).
Settings
As this version of the script is hard-coded for standard market hours, there are currently no user-adjustable input parameters. The logic follows:
- Premarket Start/End: Fixed at 04:00 and 09:30 respectively.
- Opening Range Duration: Fixed at the first 30 minutes of the regular session.
- Visuals: Premarket levels are displayed in a blue hue, while Opening Range levels use the default chart foreground color.
FAQ
How do I access Premarket and Opening Range (First 30 minutes) Levels?
You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
Why are the levels not appearing immediately?
The Premarket levels will only appear once the premarket session concludes at 09:30. Similarly, the Opening Range levels will appear exactly 30 minutes after the market opens.
Does this script work on all timeframes?
Yes, the script tracks time-based stamps; however, it is most effective on lower intraday timeframes (e.g., 1m, 5m, or 15m) where the specific highs and lows of the sessions can be precisely observed.
