The ICT Balanced Price Range indicator helps traders identify key areas on price charts where a balance between buyers and sellers is established, serving as critical points for potential price reversals or continuations.

Usage

The Usage section focuses on identifying and trading the overlap of Fair Value Gaps (FVG). To identify a Balanced Price Range (BPR), the indicator locates two horizontally opposing FVGs—one on the sell side and one on the buy side. The area where these two zones overlap is identified as the BPR.

  • Bullish BPR: Formed when a Bullish FVG overlaps with a Bullish Inversion FVG (originally a bearish FVG). Traders often look for a bullish market structure shift on lower timeframes and wait for a test of this overlap within a discount zone to execute buy trades.
  • Bearish BPR: Formed when a Bearish FVG overlaps with a Bearish Inversion FVG (originally a bullish FVG). Traders typically look for a bearish market structure shift and wait for a test of this zone to execute sell trades.

Details

The script utilizes a specific algorithm to detect and categorize imbalances. A BPR is considered a highly sensitive zone because it represents a "re-balanced" area where price has moved quickly in both directions, leaving a gap that is subsequently filled and inverted. The indicator includes a multi-level filtering system to ensure that only significant price gaps are used to form the BPR, reducing market noise and focusing on high-probability setups.

Settings

Global Settings

  • Show All FVG & IFVG: When disabled, only the most recent FVG and IFVG zones are displayed on the chart.
  • FVG & IFVG Validity Period (Bar): Sets the maximum number of bars an FVG or IFVG remains active before being removed.
  • Switching Colors Theme Mode: Adjusts the indicator's visual colors for "Light" or "Dark" TradingView themes.

  • Mitigation Level BPR: Defines which price level triggers a mitigation (Proximal, Distal, or the 50% midpoint).
  • Show Bullish/Bearish IFVG: Toggles the display of the individual Inversion Fair Value Gaps.

Logic Settings

  • FVG Filter: A toggle to enable/disable the quality filter for detected gaps.
  • Types of FVG filters:
    1. Very Aggressive: Minimum filtering, requiring only basic price action conditions.
    2. Aggressive: Filters out gaps where the middle candle is considered too small.
    3. Defensive: Requires a substantial candle body and specific polarity conditions.
    4. Very Defensive: The strictest setting, filtering out small-bodied dojis to retain only high-quality signals.

FAQ

How do I interpret a BPR zone? A BPR zone is an area where two opposing Fair Value Gaps overlap. It acts as a magnet for price and often provides strong support or resistance because it represents a fully balanced price range that the market is likely to respect.

Can I use this for automated alerts? Yes, the script includes alert functionality for BPR mitigation. You can configure the frequency (All, Once Per Bar, or Per Bar Close) and the timezone for the alert messages within the settings.
