The CryptoSignalScanner - MACD Multiple TimeFrames indicator provides a comprehensive view of momentum by plotting MACD and Signal lines from multiple user-defined timeframes on a single chart. This tool aims to help traders identify trend confluence and potential reversal points by observing how momentum develops across different chart periodicities simultaneously.

Usage

The indicator can be used to identify trend strength and potential exhaustion. When MACD lines from multiple timeframes are grouped together during an uptrend, it may indicate a period of overextension or a potential selling opportunity. Conversely, when multiple MACD lines converge during a downtrend, it may signal a buying opportunity.

Key features include:

  • Multi-Timeframe Analysis: Plot up to 5 additional timeframes alongside the current chart's MACD.
  • Momentum Cloud: An optional visual cloud between the MACD and Signal lines to highlight bullish or bearish momentum.
  • Information Box: A customizable table that displays real-time values for MACD, Signal, and Histogram across all selected timeframes.
  • MA Flexibility: Choose between different Moving Average types (SMA, EMA, SMMA, WMA, VWMA) for calculations.

Details

The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) is a trend-following momentum indicator that shows the relationship between two exponential moving averages (EMAs). This script expands on the classic calculation:

  1. MACD Line: Calculated by subtracting a slow-length MA from a fast-length MA.
  2. Signal Line: An MA of the MACD line itself.
  3. Histogram: The difference between the MACD and Signal lines.

By requesting data from higher timeframes via the request.security function, the script allows you to see if the short-term momentum aligns with the long-term trend, reducing the noise associated with single timeframe trading.
