Volume-Confirmed Reversal Engine
Oct 5, 2025

The Volume-Confirmed Reversal Engine indicator identifies high-probability market turning points by filtering price patterns with significant volume spikes to confirm exhaustion or capitulation.
Usage
The Volume-Confirmed Reversal Engine monitors the market for specific exhaustion setups followed by trend-reversal confirmation.
- Identifying Setups: When a price makes a new high or low relative to the lookback period on high volume, a "Setup Box" is drawn. This box highlights the price range of the "Anchor Candle" and serves as the zone that must be breached for a valid reversal.
- Confirmation Phase: Once a setup is active, the tool watches for a breakout from the opposite side of the box within a specific bar window. If the price breaks the box boundary, a BUY or SELL label is generated.
- Evaluating Signal Strength: Each signal is assigned a score from 1 to 4. A higher score indicates that more confluence factors were met, such as high volume on both the anchor and confirmation candles, as well as alignment with the long-term macro trend (200 EMA).
- Real-Time Monitoring: The on-chart dashboard tracks whether the engine is currently scanning for new setups or actively watching a bullish/bearish setup, including a countdown of bars remaining in the confirmation window.
Details
The indicator operates through a multi-step logic process:
- Anchor Detection: It scans for extreme price movements (new highs/lows) over a user-defined lookback. If the volume filter is enabled, this candle must also exceed the average volume by a specified multiplier.
- Temporal Constraint: Reversals must occur within a "Confirm Within" window. If the price fails to break the box or makes a new extreme during this time, the setup is invalidated.
- Trend Alignment: To increase the probability of success, the engine can compare the signal direction against a long-term EMA to ensure the reversal is not fighting a dominant macro trend.
Settings
Price Action Settings
- Candle Lookback: Sets the number of bars used to determine if the current price is at a local extreme.
- Confirm Within (Bars): Defines the maximum duration (in bars) allowed for the price to break out of the setup box.
Volume Confirmation Settings
- Use Volume Filter: Enables or disables volume requirements for the initial anchor candle.
- Volume MA Length: The period used to calculate the average volume baseline.
- Anchor Candle Volume Multiplier: The factor by which anchor volume must exceed the average to be considered significant.
- Use Confirmation Candle Volume: Requires the breakout candle itself to also have high volume.
- Confirmation Candle Volume Multiplier: The volume threshold required for the breakout candle.
Signal Score Settings
- Macro Trend Filter (EMA): The length of the EMA used to determine the fourth point of the signal strength score.
FAQ
How do I interpret the Signal Score?
The score (1-4) represents the number of confirmation layers met. A score of 4/4 means the price pattern, anchor volume, confirmation volume, and macro trend alignment all support the signal.
What causes a setup box to disappear?
A setup box is removed if the price makes a new extreme (invalidating the anchor), if the confirmation window expires, or if a successful breakout occurs.
