The Multiple Timeframe continuity with Crossover Alerts indicator provides a comprehensive framework for monitoring Exponential Moving Average (EMA) and Relative Strength Index (RSI) crossovers across six customizable timeframes simultaneously. By identifying instances where trend and momentum signals align across multiple periodicities, the tool aims to highlight high-confluence entry and exit points with integrated alert functionality.

Usage

The tool is designed to identify "continuity" or trend alignment across different time horizons. Users can enable up to six different timeframes and choose which specific crossover combinations to display on the chart.

  • EMA Continuity: The script tracks the 9-period and 20-period EMA. When a crossover occurs on multiple selected timeframes at once (e.g., Timeframe 1 and 2, or 1, 2, and 3), a signal is plotted on the chart.
  • RSI Continuity: Similar to the EMAs, the script monitors the RSI relative to its SMA. If the RSI crosses its signal line across the chosen timeframes, a momentum signal is generated.
  • Combined Mode: By activating the combination option, the script will only plot signals when both the EMA and RSI crossovers occur concurrently across the selected timeframes, providing a filtered view of high-probability trend shifts.
  • Alerts: Users can enable global alerts to be notified whenever a bullish or bearish continuity event is detected, ensuring they do not miss setups across different time intervals.

Details

The indicator leverages several core technical analysis concepts:

  • EMA (Exponential Moving Average): Uses a weighting factor that decreases exponentially, giving more importance to recent price data.
  • SMA (Simple Moving Average): A standard arithmetic mean of the last n periods.
  • RSI (Relative Strength Index): A momentum oscillator that measures the speed and change of price movements. The script specifically uses the RMA (Running Moving Average) for RSI calculations, consistent with standard RSI implementations.

By calculating these values for multiple timeframes using request.security, the indicator allows traders to maintain a "top-down" perspective without constantly switching chart tabs.

Settings

Timeframes

  • Timeframe Number 1-6: Toggle switches to enable or disable specific timeframe tracking.
  • Timeframe Value: Dropdown menus to select the specific duration in minutes (1, 3, 5, 15, 30, 45, 60, 120, 180, 240).

EMA 9/20 Signals

  • Activate Alarms: Enables alert notifications for EMA crossovers.
  • Show Crossing for Timeframe 1&2 / 1&2&3 / etc.: Select which combinations of aligned timeframes should trigger a visual plot.

RSI

  • Activate RSI: Enables RSI crossover calculations and visibility.
  • Show Crossing for Timeframe 1&2 / 1&2&3 / etc.: Select which combinations of aligned timeframes should trigger a visual RSI plot.

Combination

  • Activate combination of RSI and EMA 9/20: When enabled, filters signals to only show when both EMA and RSI crossovers align on the same bars.

FAQ

How do I interpret the different arrow sizes on the chart? The indicator uses different sizes for the plot characters based on the number of timeframes aligned. For example, a crossover across three timeframes will appear larger than a crossover across only two, indicating higher confluence.

Can I change the EMA periods? The current version of the script is hardcoded to use the 9 and 20 EMAs as per the original trading strategy. However, you can adjust which timeframes these EMAs are calculated on via the settings menu.
