The Inverse Fisher RSI-MTF2 alerts tool helps traders identify potential trend reversals by applying the Inverse Fisher Transform to a Multi-Timeframe Relative Strength Index. By smoothing RSI values and transforming them into a bounded range, this indicator provides clear visual signals for overbought and oversold conditions across different time horizons.

Usage

The Usage section focuses on identifying extreme market conditions that may precede price reversals. When the transformed RSI crosses above the 0.8 threshold, a green triangle appears below the bar, signaling a potential bullish momentum shift. Conversely, when it crosses below the -0.8 threshold, a red triangle appears above the bar, signaling a potential bearish momentum shift.

Traders often use this indicator to spot entries on a lower timeframe while using a higher timeframe (MTF) setting to filter out noise. For example, applying a 1440 (Daily) timeframe setting on a 1-hour chart allows you to see the trend direction of the higher timeframe directly on your intraday candles.

Details

The script utilizes the Inverse Fisher Transform, a mathematical formula designed to make a distribution more "square" or "bipolar." By applying this to the RSI, the indicator spends more time at the extreme values (-1 and 1) and less time in the middle. This creates sharper, more decisive signals compared to a standard RSI.

The Multi-Timeframe (MTF) aspect is handled via the request.security function. It is important to note that when viewing higher timeframe data on lower timeframe charts, the signals are calculated based on the completed higher timeframe candle to minimize repainting issues.

Settings

  • RSI Main Period: Determines the number of bars used to calculate the base RSI value.
  • RSI Smooth Period: Controls the Weighted Moving Average (WMA) applied to the raw RSI data before the transformation.
  • Timeframe: Defines the external timeframe from which the RSI data is fetched (e.g., Daily, 4-hour, etc.).

FAQ

How do I use the Multi-Timeframe (MTF) feature?

Adjust the "Timeframe" input in the settings menu to a value higher than your current chart timeframe to see trend signals derived from a larger market perspective.

Why do signals sometimes appear to shift?

This is typically due to how MTF data is calculated. Using a much higher timeframe on a very short graph can lead to signals that reflect the state of the higher timeframe candle. It is recommended to use the indicator on 30-minute or 1-hour charts when tracking Daily MTF data for better stability.
